"Earth Hour" is Damn Stupid

Well, if there are “probably millions of people and quite a few corporations” who have heeded his words of wisdom, it shouldn’t be too hard for you to provide some actual cites with numbers to back up the assertion that he’s helping the planet more than hurting it, then, right?

P.S.: Please show me where I bitched about Gore’s energy use.

Burden of proof is not on me. I have not made “the assertion that he’s helping the planet more than hurting it”. I’m not trying to prove it’s true, just that it’s part of the equation. The original claim, whether stated explicitly or not, is that Gore is a hypocrite because he uses so much energy.

I pointed out that this is bad reasoning. He goes to conferences to do things that promote energy efficiency. There’s no a priori reason to think it’s a net loss. Nor is there one to think it’s a net gain, but you can’t pretend that there are no benefits to what he does.

This has nothing to do with my point, and seems to be confusing two topics. On rereading our “conversation”, it seems like I’m talking about Gore and you’re talking about Earth Hour. I assumed you meant this as a snark about the Gore part. If not, I apologize, but wonder why you brought it up in a reply to me?

My bad. I was talking about Earth Hour. Somehow it got caught up with Al Gore.

No problem. Easy to mix up threads online.
