I’m sorry for your loss, chowder. It hurts like a mad thing to lose a pet. I wish you healing and great joy with your new kitten(s).
When I go to the vet and if nobody has laid claim to 2 of the kittens then I’m gonna be caught between a rock and a hard place.
The vet only keeps kittens for 4 days, if nobody wants them it’s curtains for the little mites. I aint gonna let that happen, no way, no how, never in a million
I am sorry for your loss. Cats will really steal your heart, and they never, ever let go of it, even when they depart.
I always suggest getting kittens in sets. They will pounce on each other, and wrestle, and do all sorts of cute and amusing things. Plus they will wear each other out, which is something that must be appreciated. They will keep each other company, which is also something to be appreciated.
I’m sorry for your loss.
Get at least two kittens. They will stalk and pounce on each other, play-fight, groom each other (possibly), and curl up together. All of which is extremely cute. Two cats aren’t much more work than one cat, either.
I’m so very sorry.
And three kittens probably aren’t much more than two… I’m just sayin’.
Not a good time to animals around here these days on the Dope, is it? Sorry for your loss, chowder.
Three cats is good. We need three cats in the Bodoni household to run properly. The only true drawback to three cats is that you really and truly do need four litterboxes, and all must be cleaned and changed on a regular basis. Well, and you really and truly do need a wider assortment of Cat Lounging Stations. Windowsills are a traditional favorite, but our two males enjoy chilling out on the bathroom rug, for some reason, while the female meezer insists on sleeping on the foot of the beds. She has a problem, though, because we have two beds but there’s only one of her. She tries to solve this problem by taking up as much of whatever bed she’s sleeping on at the time as possible.
I’m sorry for your loss, chowder. Losing a cat is never easy–I can’t even imagine what it must be like to lose one who’s been a companion for that long.
I hope the new kitten(s) will make you smile. Kittens are good for the soul.
i’m sorry to hear about eccles.
Yeah, I thought so until I had two tiny kittens gunning for the front door every time I got home from work. Luckily it’s only into an apartment hallway that is closed on both ends.
Only today did I realize that my backpack swinging near the floor can block their way perfectly.
I’m sorry for your loss, chowder. Good luck with getting little ones!
chowder, I’m so sorry for your loss. Eccles must have been a lovely boy.
Allow me to join the “Take all three!” chorus. We’re looking forward to pictures.
I’m so sorry to hear about Eccles–he sounds like a great cat. And it sounds like he had a very happy life with you.
I agree that three kittens would be an excellent investment. And if Eccles is keeping an eye on things from afar, he’ll approve of the fact that it took three cats to fill his vacancy.
Take all the kittens, chowder, you know you want to…
I got back from the vet about 30 mins ago.
I have a new kitten :D. Just one as the others had gone
He’s black with one white foot and a smidge of white on his nose, I think I’ll call him “Freckles”
As I don’t have a digital camera I can’t post pics, heck I’ve only just fathomed out the TV remote without all this new fangled technimachology
He’s obviously exhausted after mooching around the place and deciding it meets with his requirements so he’s had a small snack and is at present crashed out on the settee.
Doubtless when he surfaces he’ll examine the place a little more thoroughly before adopting me
Congratulations. Although I don’t understand how you can let him sleep on the settee when you could cradle him in your arms as he sleeps. That’s always the hardest part of getting a new cat for me…letting them sleep without holding them.
Chowder, you will have Eccles Mark II. He/ she won’t be the same as they have their personalities but it will become as much a part of your life as Eccles was.
And now " I love Jennifer Eccles…" is going through my mind.
I didn’t know there were any Amish in Merry Olde England.
Welcome Freckles!
Well he’s awake now and scouting the place out.
I showed him his litter tray and he’s used it for a piddle…bless his little cotton socks. Put some of that kitty milk down for him but he doesn’t seem interested, seems to prefer plain and simple water.
I couldn’t cradle him before as I had things to do, y’know like eat and other inconsequential things neccessary to keep body and soul together.
There’s no doubt that when I hit the sack tonight he’ll be right there alongside me just like Eccles used to be.
Freckles says “Hi” to his new doper friends and promises to fight ignorance and dogs wherever it and they may be found
