As for Sapo, generally, I call Suicide By Mod, even if he did have some legit complaints. Sadly, his method of expressing them only made it less likely for them to be taken seriously.

Sapo’s tone was pretty mild for what is usual in the pit and to say any of his statements can truly be interpreted as threats is beyond average stupid, it is stronger than industrial-strength stupid. Ed needs to go take a long walk on a short pier.

I think the interpretation of the Sapo FOAD comment as a threat is a bunch of cow plop. Calling FOAD a threat is like calling *3 Dogs Playing Poker *fine art.
The staff needs to realize that this board is now a business and needs to be run like one. Quit trying to fix things that work.

Sapo had been warned. Many, many, many, many, many times. And he still felt the need to stick his thumb on his nose and waggle his fingers at the moderator.
It doesn’t matter if things are right or wrong. Freedom of speech is a nice idea…but it doesn’t apply here. This is not a democracy. This is a forum that is run by admins who can make any rules they want and if you don’t like them, it’s very easy: You can leave or bitch about them until you’re banned.
He seemed to have so many complaints about this board I have no idea why he stayed. Seems to me the mods and admins were just helping him out in banning him.
The admins make the rules. They tell people what they can or can’t do here. As far as I can tell, Sapo was told a few times…and yet he still wanted to push the line. He reminds me of a brother in the backseat of a car told to stop touching his sister’s arm and so he holds his finger about an inch away from her and when she screams he says “WHAT? I’m not touching her.”
It doesn’t matter if you agree or disagree with the rules. That is a moot point. If the admins want to make using the word “chair” a bannable offense, they can. No, you don’t have to like it. But you don’t have to post either.
And I think complaining and having the right to do so is just fine. But in my observations, Sapo did this with extreme pleasure and often. He never seemed to pass up a chance to do so. Complaining is one thing. Complainin every other post (hyperbole, but it fit him more than any other poster) is an entire other thing.
I agree about Sapo’s behavior. If he had been warned that many times before, (and I’m taking you at your word to avoid the inevitable cite-fest), then tone it down or begone I guess.
Color me a little skeptical as to a decision to outright ban him, but a discussion amongst the *powers that be *warrant a serious meeting of the minds. People have paid to commiserate here, I know I have, and I’d hate for a website I’ve paid for when there are many others that are free become the antithesis of it’s mission, which is to try to fight ignorance.
Many of the natives are restless, and some have a good point. I think the confusion above all stems from the “newly implemented rules” regarding the Pit, and their subsequent lack of coherency about what is what. I don’t think everyone truly understands the “loose moderation” new rule in place of the “almost zero moderation rule” that “governed” this particular forum in the past.
There needs to be a very simple set of minor rules for this forum, and that’s it. This is supposed to be where the ranting psycho in you is allowed to come out and play.
However, I can also understand taking a hard stance on statements that are beyond the pale with regards to death threats, real or insinuated, etcetera to preserve some modicum of civility, yes, even in the Pit.
But hell…I’m the new guy here. What do I know?

I wish y’all would just do the honest thing and add the following to the rules:
If you embarrass one of the mods, we will ban you. It just might take a few days while we search your post history to find a plausible reason.
