Wonderful. Except they make some rules and they apply other , non-declared rules like “we reserve the right to be totally idiotic and act like preteen juveniles having a fit over some idiotic perceived slight”.
I have no idea about his history but in this case he was 100% right.
And then they ban someone for something which objectively does not break any of the stated rules.

I reported Sapo’s post (others may well have too). I did so assuming they would ban him for it. Not because it was a threat - it obviously wasn’t - but because he had clearly become one of those posters who post pretty much entirely to goad the mods. Some posters get like this. Some of them have good reasons for getting upset in the first place. But if you become one of those posters, you’re going to go. And if you think you’re clever enough to stay just this side of the line, you’re going to go sooner because it’s really obvious.
We all know this.
So even if you reckon you’ve got a legitimate beef against the administration about something - and many (including me) do - you’ve got to decide to go or stay and move on and post mostly about things other than the administration of the boards. Or you risk leaving a jerk.

Cite? Just recently I have seen him around several other threads I have been involved with. He was like any other poster. He posted critical comments against mods in threads that were critical about mods in the correct forum. If you didn’t think it was a threat then there was no reason to report.
Please do not post messages from suspended or banned members.
Hawthorne, Respectfully, fuck you. You’ve decided why Sapo was posting, and you decided that it upset you to much to keep reading his Pit threads, and you decided he had to go. The ignore button was made for people like you, at least it was back in the day when it made any sense to use it. Now, all you have to do is report someone’s posts and if he has violated the one unviolable law of the SDMB, which used to be “Don’t be a jerk” but now is “Don’t piss **Ed **off,” he’s gone.
You’ve done an awful thing here, by acting on your offendedness and reporting him.
I’m not saying that he isn’t a loss - pretty much all long-term posters who get banned are. But my reading was that he’s been on a goad-the-mods-jag for some months.
You must know me professionally. 
Posters who get like that pollute these boards. It’s not meddling to point out an opportunity to flush.

Oh, please. I’m nobody here. I determine nothing and am barely heard in any thread. I’m one of those people whose post counts cause people to wonder whether I post extensively in Lord of the Rings minutiae threads. *If *the mods saw my report, my handle wouldn’t have caused them to think “wow, *hawthorne * reported it, it must be serious!”
Sapo doesn’t remotely offend or upset me. He just got tedious.
