Something like that. He had eight kids between 1989 and 2006.
That would be brilliant, everybody would love it, and it would be talked about for years.
That’s why it won’t happen.
How often have they used currently relevant movie stars, though?
He can do the job as well as anyone. He’s certainly got live TV experience.
Speaking of Gumby, he apparently tried to rob a convenience store, but what stymied by his lack of pockets:
Possibly. It would hard to not be an improvement over James Franco.
But what a really, really odd choice.
But he hasn’t done any live TV or stand-up in over 20 years. Once you’ve been away for that long, you can’t expect to immediately snap back into form. For his sake, I can only hope over the next few months he’ll be doing things like “surprise” stand-up gigs at clubs or even returning to host SNL just to get his comic skills active again. Otherwise, we’ll be in for another long boring evening.
As long as he wears shiny red or purple leather.
One article suggested that the ratings might improve among African-Americans, based on the ratings of years when Chris Rock hosted, or other African-Americans were up for major awards.
I demand a Ziegfeld-style production of “Boogie in Your Butt”.
I remember one Oscar show in which Eddie was a presenter. He wore white tie and tails. And looked quite good.
I think it’s probably going to suck, no matter who hosts it. Eddie has as good a chance as anyone of breaking the jinx.
What jinx? Did something happen recently that has caused the shows to be so consistently bad?
I think Eddie Murphy has been one of the more well sustained comedians around. If you compare his work to his contemporaries, he is one of the most active comedians around. His work isn’t all brilliant, but that’s the way comedy careers seem to pan out. He will do an excellent job, I have no doubt.
Bumping since Murphy has now dropped out…
I think he’ll do OK. I sense he’s trying to get back to his roots; this could be a good thing. Then again creativity is at its maximum when you’re in your teens and early 20s…
Has he? Because of Rattner?
Really? I thought that was sexual drive…
I’m bummed about him dropping out as I was really looking forward to seeing him do some standing-up comedy again.
Guys have to be really creative to get laid in your teens and early 20s.
I’m a little disappointed Murphy is gone from the show. was looking forward to see what he would come up with.
To my knowledge, he hasn’t publicly admitted as much (yet), but it is the most obvious conclusion
