Editing Options

Help! I have read the FAQ’s and don’t see this there.

My email is full of “replies to xyz thread” --even though I disabled that option via the Options area.

Much as I enjoy this bb already, I don’t want to know when someone has replied to my trivia and blather. What can I do? I looked at the “subscribed threads”, but dont’ see a way to NOT “subscribe”(?). I do want to be a Charter Member, I just don’t want to have all this email!

And I don’t see where to contact any admin or mod? Doubt I’ll need to, but just want all my ducks in a row.

BTW, thank you so much for such a cool bb…hope this is in the right place.

OK-I logged out and attempted to unsubscribe to all the threads I posted in. It wouldn’t take “unsubscribe all”. Let’s hope that works…

nope, that is not the answer. I am still getting emails about threads that I haven’t posted in since I logged out last time.

This is a real PIA–of course, now I am stuck for a year with cluttered email and aggravation?

Do I really have to “clear” all my subscriptions (which I do not want and clicked on NO) every time I surf here? Agh!

Will putter around, looking for some admin help…realize it’s a low priority for most, but it is aggravating as hell for me!
Sent an email to “contact us”–I hope it works!

You had “automatic thread subscription” clicked to “YES.” I have set that to “NO.”

The place that controls that is in the User Control Panel (User CP, hyperlink in the far left corner, blue band on most every SDMB page). Click on “Edit Options” and then look for the panel that says “Default Thread Subscription Mode.” Select the option you want (in this case, it was Do not subscribe). Click the “Save Changes” button. And you’re good to go.

Please let me know if you continue to have problems. Bypass the board and send me email (TubaDiva@aol.com) or IM me if you see me online (same name).

Sorry to hear about your difficulties here. Not sure why it didn’t turn off for you, but the system has been a bit odd lately.

Thank you! and thanks for the prompt reply! No more emails so far. (I don’t understand why it wouldn’t go thru when I selected NO?)–oh well, I don’t argue with results. thanks again!

Sometimes, you can’t “just say NO” … sometimes, you gotta yell it real loud and grab the computer by the lapels and shake it. Threaten to cut off its allowance even, or send it to its room and no TV.
