Election Day Omnibus thread

Got it.

Georgia may be too early to call but Florida really looks to be going to Trump (though Florida seemed like a stretch to me anyway).

Kornacki said the early returns will be “vote by mail and early in-person vote”. Take that for what it’s worth.

Philly is dropping its mail-in votes at 8:01, which will be the first significant dump thus far.

Harris is currently leading in Ohio. I’ll be surprised if that holds, but we’ll see.

Is it not already the law that people already in line when polls close are allowed to vote?

16 states and dc to close in 5 minutes.

I’ve decided to break into the whiskey and Mike’s Hard Lemonade a little early so as to help stay calm.

Yes, it is. Usually if there are delays or something wonky they will extend as a courtesy.

Most should have been closed. And they have been exit polling all day. Exit polls aren’t meaningful in a close race, but it is not a close race.

Questioning the projections, when the AP and legacy networks agree, risks feeding Trump fear, uncertainty, and doubt nonsense.

I think as @Jas09 said that won’t be universal.

I zoomed in on Georgia, and none of the counties where their big cities are even show who is leading yet (except Chatham County, where Savannah is, says Harris is leading).

I wouldn’t be surprised if it is insanely close yet again in Georgia.

I mean, it’s all but certain that CA, OR, and WA will get called for Harris the instant polls close on the west coast. The outcome of the vote there is not in question.

It won’t.

One sliver of brightness in GA is that the ring counties look a bit more pro-Harris than they were pro-Biden. Looking at Rockdale and Douglas. We will see if that augers well for Fulton, Cobb, and Gwinnett.

Florida on AP’s map shows 80% counted with Trump 10 points ahead, so I expect it to be called any minute.

Ah, gotcha. I will say that Kornacki was doing his thing in front of his North Carolina map when he made that comment (I quickly rewinded my Youtube TV to make sure I’d heard him right).

We should have a bunch of projections coming in in just about 2 minutes.

I missed if this is only for Presidential elections, but if not Rep. Maxwell Frost won his Florida seat. A tiny win, but good.

They will want to see some in-person numbers from various precincts before they call it, but yeah FL will be a pretty early call it seems. A Democrat can’t win there without winning in Miami.

ETA: Nevermind, they called it for Trump at poll close. Very bad omen for Harris.

Oh, so his comments might have been about NC specifically, which would be a good reason to be cautious about that state at the moment.

I gotta stop watching this stupid map. Ohio flipped from Red to Blue (my guess is that they got the Columbus votes counted from my zooming in) and I’m going to drive myself crazy.

Trump: FL, TN, MO, AL, OK
Harris: MA, MD, DC

I had promised myself on the way home that I would spend this evening tidying my desk, and ignore the news.

Instead, I’ve been rotating through a set of three tabs pretty much since I got home. (I did turn off the news as soon as I got home, so I guess that was a good move.)
