I hope in 4 years the country is still savable and the EPA and Ukraine still exist. I hope Putin does not know our every secret by then and that we are not hopelessly compromised.

Trump’s platform was pro-business, anti-immigration, and anti-liberalism. Seems like all three themes resonated with the American voters.
Because a large portion of the public cares about hate more than anything else. They want women and non-white people persecuted, civil rights rolled back and an oppressive dictatorship.
But then he and most of his administration were completely clueless and had no plan for what to do with that power in those first two years. This time the scenario is much, much different.
How long does it usually take to get the info on what demographic didn’t show up for Harris, or which ones flipped?
Big hugs! Please tell them that it can make a difference. My wife, son (then ten), and I wrote postcards to Georgia voters for the January 2021 Senate elections, when Warnock and Ossoff did win, barely (and thus Democrats won the Senate).
I’m starting to lean toward a two-phase plan: First, a vacation from the whole scene. Focus on other stuff for a few months, maybe a year at most. Then, get back on that saddle.
In any case, you and I have already laid the groundwork with our kids. They’ll be fine. They will take up righteous causes, do what they can to help the less fortunate, and keep learning and sharing with others the truths. They’ll also make mistakes, go “offline” for periods, get caught up in wasteful activities…but they have basic EMPATHY and CURIOSITY (which are fundamentally one thing). That’s already miles ahead of anyone who could contemplate for a moment voting for the steaming vat of orange vomit that will regain the White House in a few months.
I can only hope that the Harrises and Jack Smiths and Biden’s of the US are planning their exit strategies for inauguration day. And, I bet from now to inauguration day, that Trump will be conversing regularly with Putin to plan Ukraine’s funeral.
They are still mostly clueless and will remain so since he puts loyalty over competence. He’s still lazy and doesn’t know how to pick good people.

Biggest shift is Hispanics. Women still went Harris at 24% but at 15% less than they did Biden, while men went Trump 10%, having gone Biden 23%. She also lost ground with black men and women as a whole while fewer white men and women voted Trump but were still a majority for him.
I read that Harris only won Hispanic voters by 53% to 45% (however, that info was about ten hours outdated, so don’t quote me too much.)
If that is true, that’s a massive swing. The Democrat “should” be winning the Latino vote by a much greater margin than that in order to win an election. Like, a margin of 20-30% ish.
Gosh, I totally thought it possible. It was at the upper end of likely Trump hauls (I mean, there was a 0.2 percent chance he’d win Virginia or Colorado or something) but it’s well within “what happens if the polls are a few points low on him” events, and the polls were a point or two low on him in 2016 and 2020. A point or two in popular vote will turn many swing states around.
I think my prediction was something like 290 - my map is in that other thread - but that’s just a state or two off.
In my opinion, the above quote is a significant part of the liberal message that US voters went against. Very few people believe that they personally are evil. Donald Trump said things that lots of US voters agreed with. The voters were then told by the Democrats that if they agreed with Trump they were evil. Why should they vote for the party that’ called them evil?
Yeah, this is a massive problem.
The dreaded “You made me this way.” Wins all arguments by attacking self agency.
There’s still plenty of damage that can be done. It’s much easier to tear things down than to build things. trump and company can gut government institutions and policies like the ACA. Abandon Ukraine. Pull out of NATO. Etc. etc. etc…
As for actual policies that we can devine from his ramblings, I think you can say:
- Tax cuts!
- Tariffs!
- Deport millions!
- Drill, baby drill!
1 will explode the federal deficit, while shifting another few trillion to his rich buddies.
2 will cause inflation, start trade wars, and damage the economy, coming and going.
3 will damage the economy as millions of workers disappear, and aren’t replaced. Worried about the housing crisis? Well, it’s going to get worse when a lot of the people building the houses leave the country.
4 well, yes, cheap energy is usually good for the economy, he got one thing right. But he tempers that with “Climate change? What climate change?” So expect that to just keep getting worse. He’ll have the bigliest hurricanes of all time!
