Eli Stone - 4/17

Mrs. Flex and I have been enjoying the new series Eli Stone lately. Unfortunately, due to the storms in the area, the first 20 min was pre-empted so that we could see the rain from the comfort of our living room. Anyone see this show? Would you mind recapping the first 20 min? We saw it from the point where his ex-fiance is telling him that he’s the most important person in her life. Thanks.

I’m so glad someone started a thread on this, it is my new favorite show - and I LOVE tv.

The worst possible episode for me to try and recap as I was a bit confused for the first 10 or 15 minutes.

Here goes:

It starts with Eli getting brain surgery and we see the hemorrhage occur. Just as they try to repair things, Eli’s brother wakes up.

At this point, I think the surgery is a dream as we move on to the beginning of a usual episode.

Eli meets a man who wants to die. He has cancer and doesn’t want chemo but his wife wants him found incompetent (or whatever it is, but you’ve no doubt figured this out anyhow). We meet the mans wife, they do their boardroom table lawyer talk thing (I’ll try not to confuse you with all the lawyer talk, lol).

At some point, we find out that Eli really did have the surgery.

Did this help at all? I’d probably do better with specific questions.

Yes, it helped a lot, thanks! I can’t believe there haven’t been any threads on this show here.

Unfortunately, we screwed up and watched this week’s show before we had a chance to watch last week’s due to it being on a different night. However, it’s on DVR and we should be able to get to it this weekend. I knew he was considering the surgery, but didn’t know if he had it last week or this week and how that came about. Everything is much clearer now. Thanks again.

No problem.

Sunday’s episode was good, you’ll enjoy it I think.

My wife loves this show. Me, I was complaining “they already did one embedded music video - doing a second song is illegal!” That and the Yankees were losing.

It’s starting to grow on me a bit.

It’s almost certain to be cancelled. I’m going to start accepting payments from folks who don’t want their shows cancelled not to watch their shows.

Head over to abc.com, click on the tab that reads “Full Episodes,” click on the line that reads “Eli Stone” and click on last nights episode and you can see it in its entirety which is better than drm’s fine summation and will even include all the lawyer talk. Plus you can take a look at a few past shows you may have missed.

:smack: I forgot all about that. I did that once before with an episode I missed - hooked my laptop up to our TV, so Mrs Flex and I could watch together comfortably, with pretty decent results.

I still wonder why the hell he had the operation. I mean, he was proven correct, right? And the only way they could continue the show is if the anurism wasn’t what was giving him the visions. No visions, no show. Otherwise it would just be this lawyer taking on cases. Like we need another of those.

I enjoy the show, but can’t see how it could continue if he no longer has the visions.

I been sitting here wondering the same thing! I guess we’ll find out next season.

Just watched the season finale. I hope it gets renewed.

I already miss that curled lip confused look Eli had for well, just about everything. His interaction with his assistant was a highlight of every episode. The guy who plays Matt Dowd is the most adorable bad guy I’ve seen on TV since Lucy Lui used to mess up Ally McBeal’s day.

This last ep was confusing though. He had the operation to remove his aneurysm, but was the entire ep a vision?

Any news as to whether it’s getting renewed?

I also truly love this show. I think he had the operation because he didn’t want the responsibility and chaos the visions entailed. He just wants his normal life back.

As far as the last episode goes, I think the whole case of the man wanting to die and the wife fighting it was a vision of Eli’s while he is in the coma. He must decide if he indeed wants to live. Acupuncturist (can’t remember his name) has dreams which lead him to believe that Eli will come out of coma and talks brother into waiting to pull the plug.

Obviously they can’t have the show without the visions,so I think he will continue to have visions and realize they weren’t caused by the aneurysm.

But if acupuncturist guy talked his brother out of pulling the plug but it was all a vision then did acupuncturist guy really talk his brother out of pulling the plug? It seems like Eli’s closest friends went through some stuff, and it would be wasted if it were all a vision.

I also couldn’t tell if he had actually been given the partnership or if that was a vision. In one scene the father lawyer (can’t remember his name) is talking to his daughter about how he was planning on making Eli a partner for the new Pro Bono department.

Still, a good episode to finish with and one of the best shows on right now. Pretty much every episode is strong and moves me at least a little. Hope it gets picked up.

I agree. I’ve watched every episode, but I’m still shaking my head about the Golden Gate Bridge …

ABC Says it’s being renewed. Link… http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=4845639. Seems in “normal years” it wouldn’t have been.

Halleluiah!
