Elite Dangerous

Cool! Thanks.

Speaking of engineering, I actually visited my 1st engineer unlock last night. He souped up my multicannons. They really rip stuff apart now. Muh ha ha ha! Die pirate die!!!

And just before I went to bed I got a communication indicating the FSD engineer is unlocked. She’s like a billion light years away (slight exaggeration). The goal for tonight will be do travel to her and see what she can do for me.

Got enough from my attempt to reach Colonia to afford a fully kitted Beluga. Might need to tweak the passenger cabins.

Nice! Congratulations!

I got a A-rated power distributer and then had my engineer tune it. Love it! My weapons charge so much faster. Also, my pulse laser got a experimental improvement. It causes periodic system shutdowns on the enemy. No idea what the proc rate it, probably very low, but it changes the visuals so it is cool just for that.

Ugh! I do not like the Beluga! Keeps getting its big ass stuck in the slot. Gonna sell this behemoth and go back to using the Corvette for passengers. Guess I’ll have to get a Dolphin for Luxury class.

That’s a bummer. :frowning:

I’ve been pretty apolitical but today I’ve decided to join a war vs. a drug cartel. Lots of action!

I finally got my Asp Explorer last night. Finding a shipyard that sold it took a long time. I love the ship but I’m getting wrecked in combat. The base shield generator (5E) is woefully insufficient. I cannot find a shipyard that sells anything better in class 5. Maybe time to stop with combat for a bit I can get it upgraded.

Missed edit.

Can any of you experts, i.e. Skywatcher, tell me what the crew person does in the Asp Explorer? Is it worth having one?

The Asp Explorer is not particularly designed for combat.

Once you get up to that level of money, you’re better off diverging, and having different ships for different situations. Have the Asp for exploring (it’s very good at it), but get yourself a Viper for combat stuff.

If you want to go for combat stuff and not bother with exploring, sell the Asp and get yourself a Vulture.

Thanks. I like that it has 6 guns though.

I guess I’m trying to hard to make ships that are multipurpose. I kept my Viper MKIV so I guess when I do combat missions I could just switch back to it.

It’s easier to open the Multi-Crew tab in-game and hit Info.

Inara can help you with that.

Thanks for the link. That is extremely useful.

In the crew section it says they can pilot a fighter or pilot the mothership while you pilot a fighter. But the Asp Explorer doesn’t have a fighter, which is what made me wonder if they do anything and hence the question. I did try googling the answer but the only thing people seem to talk about is playing together. I didn’t find anything about any benefit to an NPC crew on the Asp Explorer and again hence the question.

You want the multi-crew tab of the communications screen. Hit “info” there.

The VR interface must be different because there is no info button on any of the comm tabs. Anyway it doesn’t matter. I found a post on the forums that indicates that at least as of a few months ago they do nothing but pilot a fighter (or the mothership). If that’s changed, well, whatever, I don’t miss what I don’t have.

Multi-crew means having other commanders on your ship. Since you can’t seem to pull up the info, this dev post has pretty much the same thing.

I crashed into a tower while landing on a planet and exploded. Total instant destruction. I heard a crunch and the AI voice saying “Thrusters offline. Eject. Eject.” BOOM. I didn’t even think I was going that fast but I guess so.

$500,000 in insurance, fines and a lose of $300,000 in jobs.

D’OH!!!

One of the first times I tried to dock at a surface port, I went in too hot and took out one of their skimmers. The port retaliated and I got a rebuy screen.

Hey, Beeps, you playing Solo?

Ahhh, I wonder if that’s what happened to me because I really didn’t think I was that close to the tower. That’s got to be it.

Good to know! Kind of like don’t cross the streams. Total protonic reversal.

Yeah. I’m not much of a fan of online games with PvP. I wouldn’t have even got the game if there wasn’t an offline mode.
