Pity he wasn’t born Irish.
The handlebar mustache is from your side, I hope.
I always thought Luci was the Samuel Clemens of the 'dope. Could do worse.
That sound as the last shred of my modesty shriveling and dying like a worm under a blowtorch. Not fit to sharpen his pencils. If I were to be sentenced to a desert isle with but one author to read, I would not hesitate, it would be him.
Don’t sell yourself short, 'luc. You’re fit to sharpen his pencils.
Just.
Ah, eat yer hearts out! (Humility cannot thrive in the glaring light that is me…)
And that’s why luci is better than me, as everyone gets his jokes.
Oyl’s well that ends well
I too enjoy many of posts penned by luci although most are too cerebral for me. I do however, wonder how things would be were he to reach the rarefied status of “Mod”.
You just differ in style. elucidator’s jokes are pithy, wry quips infused with broad pop culture references, arcane literary allusions, political japes, bawdy innuendo, irony and puckish wordplay, and your jokes aren’t funny.
Dayumn, son. Thass cold.
He’ll never sell out to the Establishment, man! Never!
Story about Lincoln, maybe a legend, who cares?
Lincoln took a position in Illinois that put him in a position of regulating railroads. He was approached by a representative of the railroad who suggested that if he would rule favorably in one particular matter, the railroad would be moved to give him $50. Lincoln politely but firmly refused the offer.
The representative thought for a moment, and then suggested that they might find their way to make the offer $500. Lincoln exploded in rage, cursed the man out and demanded that he leave his office at once or be horsewhipped.
“Mr. Lincoln, I am terribly confused! I offered you $50, and you politely declined, then, when I raised the offer to $500, you cuss me out and threaten me!”
“You were getting too close to my price”.
This was, of course, before he shot Liberty Valence.
Foxes are kind of interesting and have a certain admirable cunning. The standard wisdom however is that one doesn’t put them in charge of the henhouse.
What about a fox in charge of a weasel house? That seems like a better analogy.
This thread is making me sad now
Based on available evidences, I declare he is not as troll, in fact, not even an attention whore.
I’m not kidding. The evidence is beyond any doubt.
Well, at least there’s that.
Said one of the weasels …
