Last Saturday night, just outside a bar, I took a spill while skating. Actually, I wasn’t really skating at the time of the spill, I was just hanging out. Nothing major, the keys in my pocket stabbed my leg, which hurt a bit.
As I arose, I had a strange feeling. My head felt flush and my gut hurt. I made a direct path to the rest room where I took a major dump. Upon standing up again, I felt a great relief, but I also felt somewhat euphoric. I continued skating that night with no further incident.
The last time I felt that way was back around 1986. I have had to take emergency dumps several times since that, feeling much relieved when finished, but none felt like this. Back around 1985-1986 I was in my substance experimentation time, primarily (other than beer and weed) ectasy and cocaine. Especially with the X, before kicking in, I would get lightheaded, an ache in my gut, then go to the john and take a big dump. Upon finishing and getting up, the drugs would take effect. I then attributed it to the drugs. I still do, but the feeling I got Saturday night felt the same, at least for a few minutes. I had maybe three beers.
About a a year and a half ago, some friends of mine, and me, broke up a fight. I pulled the winner off, a friend pulled the loser off. About 3 minutes later we found the source of the foul odor, the loser had lost his load with some of it on my friend’s shoes (I know TMI).
I feel these three incidents have a biological link. I have heard that it may be related to a fight or flight instinct in humans. I am not so sure of that theory. Once the body has made an emergency waste evacuation, with the rush of relief, may make it more efficient in flight or fight, but I only see that as an advantage if it occurs prior to the moment of truth. Unless the waste odor scares a predator away.
What did I experience? Has it been studied scientifically? What is the cause? Tell me more.
