Has it been that long? It seems only . . . not yesterday, but not long ago . . . that I (among many others) waited on tenterhooks for the latest news, and felt a vague dread when opening the thread to see evilbeth’s latest post, then relief when the news continued to be good.

I can’t seem to find the original, but here is Emma Kate’s first birthday thread, which begins with a synopsis of the situation. It was one of those events that coalesces a community, and it had prit’near the entire SDMB glued to their computers and hanging on each snippet of news.

Happy birthday to sweet baby Emma who is really not a baby anymore, LOL… I remembered that thread when my own premature baby was born. It was reassuring to have something to reference. (Well, yes, he’s small. But Emma was way smaller than this and she’s just fine. James will be just fine too. Rinse and repeat for every alarming development.)
