Emmy Awards 2025 watch along

I watched a lot of TV this year so I’m tuning in live.

The host is Nate Bargatze. He did a sketch at the top with some SNL cast members in the same vain as his very funny SNL George Washington sketches. Bargatze played Philo Farnsworth and they riffed on the future of television.

Stephen Colbert presented the first award. He gave his resume to Harrison Ford to pass along to Spielberg. Award was for best led actor in a comedy. Seth Rogan won for The Studio.

Bargatze announced he’d be giving $100k to the Boys & Girls Club of America. For every second over 45 seconds winners go over on their thank yous he’ll take away $1k. For ever second under 45 they will add $1k.

Jennifer Coolidge is presenting for best female lead in a comedy. Jean Smart won. Tough category.

Tramell Tillman won best male supporting drama. I am glad, he was really great in Severence (Milchick). All of the others were from White Lotus except John Turturo.

Aww, Kathy Bates didn’t win for Matlock, best actress lead in drama. Britt Lower of Severance won.

I wish they would give out awards on vibes. “It was really great to see Kathy Bates again. Let’s give her one!”

Hanna Einbinder won for supporting actress, comedy for Hacks. She said “go Birds, fuck ICE and free Palestine” lol I love young people

Omg Jeff Hiller won supporting actor comedy for “Somebody Somewhere”. Amazing win, amazing show. His fellow nominees were SO happy for him!!

he was in the Upright Citizens Brigade in the early 2000s. I think he’s very popular among his fellow actors. He recently released an autobiography “Actress of a Certain Age”.

They bleeped it so I didn’t catch the middle one. Good stuff.

Oh and Hiller beat out Harrison Ford who was nominated for “Shrinking”. That was a big upset. Not that Ford’s performance was better, but comparing the two Ford is…Ford and Hiller is like a lifelong background actor.

But Hiller’s performance was indeed great.

The director for miniseries category was 5 women and 1 man. The presenter gleefully pointed it out. The man won. Of course the man won for Adolescence which is one of the best mini series of all time. But people are somehow having a big laugh about the man winning just to show that the presenter shouldn’t have mentioned gender.

Owen Cooper won for best supporting actor in a miniseries. Adolescence. Whew, the Emmys are back on track.

I noticed “The Bear” is again nominated for best Comedy series, despite the fact it isnt in any way shape or form- a comedy. The Emmy’s has to get their act together on the catagenesis.

Yeah one of the reasons I’m tuning in this year is to watch The Bear lose :crossed_fingers:

Erin Doherty won best supporting actress in a miniseries. She was the psychologist in “Adolescence”. Truly amazing performance. It actually was a really really strong category but “Adolescence” is going to sweep because it was that good.

Kristen Milliotti won for lead actress in limited series for The Penguin. Good choice.

Stephen Graham wins lead actor for Adolescence. Could have very well been Colin Ferrel for The Penguin. But very well deserved.

Colbert wins for outstanding talk show, finally. It’s the show’s first win in this category. Gets a standing ovation. Gives a lovely speech. Looks amazingly happy.

Adolescence wins best mini series.

The Studio wins best comedy. I’m disappointed when a new show beats out an old never-winning show on its final season (What We Do In The Shadows) but oh well. The Studio was pretty great.

Noah Wiley wins best lead drama actor in The Pitt. That category was stacked with a lot of great performances. This was Wiley’s 7th nomination and first win.

They had a little thing for Law & Order. Ice T, S. Epatha Merkerson, Mariela Hagarty, Chris Meloni and someone else. All they did was sit in a police station like set and say a few words. Weird.

they presented the best drama category. The Pitt won.

It ended at 11:03 so that’s nice!

Nate Bargatze was terrible host. Yikes.

Ha. I think he’s a great comedian, but yea, that wasn’t a good format for him.

As usual for award shows, the presenters were almost universally wooden (with the exception of Brad Garret and Ray Romano.)
