This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. Referring specifically to the musical tribute to canceled shows, but it also applies to all that I’ve seen so far.
I would assume that Betty White now has the record for longest span between first and current Emmy wins, at 58 years?
With the exception of SNL, The Daily Show, the Academy Awards, and the Kennedy Center Honors, I haven’t seen a single episode (in any year) of the shows represented by this years winners. And I last saw the KCH back in the 1990s, 1980s.
The only award I had a problem with was Best Guest Actress in a Comedy: Betty White, “Saturday Night Live” - that’s acting? I don’t find Jim Parsons’ acting to be anything special, since he’s pretty much just being himself, but he does seem to carry the show.
John Lithgow, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Modern Family, all very well-deserved. If anyone had beat out Lithgow, I would have been shocked. He was superb on Dexter. I wish I were a fan of Mad Men, but that’s just me.
Had to interrupt my viewing, so I just finished watching off the DVR.
Random thoughts:
Glad to see Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston win. And Jane Lynch, but she was pretty much a lock.
Damn, Claire Danes looks beautiful. I’ve had*Temple Grandin *on my “to watch” list for a while–it did well tonight.
The Modern Family/George Clooney bit was pretty funny, as was the guy’s speech about how if it weren’t for his wife, he’d be dating around a lot–especially now that he’s an Emmy winner.
Lots of people that I grew up watching were represented in the “In Memoriam” segment. Particularly tragic were the deaths of Gary Coleman and Corey Haim.
HBO and AMC got a lot of great publicity courtesy of NBC tonight!
Lots of *Community *promos in the commercial breaks. Hopefully they’ll help bring some new viewers in–it’s a hilarious show and I was disappointed they weren’t nominated for anything.
Sort of surprised that, other than Jane Lynch, the show Glee didn’t win anything else, considering the huge number of nominations.
Glad to see Modern Family win a few - great new show.
Glad Conan didn’t win.
Jimmy Fallon was OK - nothing spectacular, but OK.
I like Nurse Jackie, but was Edie Falco really the best comedic actress from that group? Not really sure if I would even call the show a comedy - more of a dramedy, if anything.
Although I really like Mad Men, I think Dexter should have won - great season, with John Lithgow.
I tried Breaking Bad way back in the first season - saw maybe 4 or 5 shows - just didn’t do anything for me, so was not thrilled they won those categories.
Otherwise - OK show, few big surprises and most of those I had hoped would win, didn’t.
