Discuss.

I’m thrilled that **Kyle Chandler **and **Connie Britton **both got nominated for “Friday Night Lights”. It’s about time they got some recognition. Zach Gilford deserved a nod as well, but sadly missed out.

I’m not a fan of TV comedies, so that section is of no consequence to me.

I haven’t watched Lost and some of the other drames either. So my preferences are:

BEST DRAMA SERIES

“Breaking Bad” (AMC) – 1
“Dexter” (Showtime) – 3
“The Good Wife” (CBS) – 2
“Mad Men” (AMC) – 4

BEST DRAMA ACTOR

Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”) – 1
Michael C. Hall (“Dexter”) – 2
Hugh Laurie (“House”) – 3
Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”) – 4

BEST DRAMA ACTRESS

Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife”) – 1
January Jones (“Mad Men”) – 2

BEST SUPPORTING DRAMA ACTOR

Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad”) – 1
John Slattery (“Mad Men”) – 2

BEST SUPPORTING DRAMA ACTRESS

Archie Panjabi (“The Good Wife”) – 1
Christine Baranski (“The Good Wife”) – 4
Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men”) – 2
Elisabeth Moss (“Mad Men”) – 3

I’m annoyed that Justified didn’t show up in the list anywhere.

Yeah, *Community *should have had nominations at least for comedy series and supporting comedy actor (Danny Pudi).

I’m pleasantly surprised to see Sharon Gless nominated for Burn Notice. Not the type of show that typically gets that kind of attention.

*Glee *gets lots of love, as expected. And totally deserved, IMO, though Chris Colfer’s role is more dramatic than comedic.

Can we please have a tie for Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn. I’ll be very good and eat all my vegetables.

Justified received one nomination, for Best Main Title Music.

Jon fucking Cryer got nominated. Not Danny Pudi. Not Nick Offerman.

Thanks. I have yet to look over the entire list. I was referring to the OP’s list.

Good summary work on the tallies! It would appear that my TV tastes are well out of the mainstream. I’m actually surprised that the OP’s list included as many of my favorites as it did.

At least the sadly ubiquitous Charlie Sheen was ignored this year.

Sadly, Community didn’t get any mention in any category. :frowning:

It also should be noted that while The Pacific did get 24 nods, it’s competing against itself multiple times, so the most Emmys it can actually win (barring a tie here and there) is 15. But it is guaranteed one award, because all 4 nominees in the Sound Mixing (mini-series) category are from that show.

Oh, and for animation fans: The Simpsons has 5 nominations (including voiceover nods for Dan Castellaneta, Hank Azaria, and Anne Hathaway). It’s competing against South Park in the Outstanding Animated Program category, and H. Jon Benjamin got a nod for his voice work in Archer. Robot Chicken received 2 nods and Family Guy one.

I’m surprised at the Best Drama nod for True Blood, but I guess if Desperate Housewives could get nominations (in past years), so could this.

Glad to see Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad recognized, but since this is the last time Lost is eligible, the Emmy will probably go to one of those guys. And deservedly so, but damn, Aaron Paul is good.

The comedy nomination for Nurse Jackie makes me think there should be a Dramedy category. I only watched the first season, but I don’t think of it as a comedy at all. Is it a comedy just because characters occasionally have a funny line?

I don’t know about that. Both O’Quinn and Emerson have won this award before, so they may be see that as enough and go with either Paul or Slattery.

I would not want to have to decide between Breaking Bad or Dexter for Best Drama.

Glee is in a similar situation, though I think it’s funnier than most sitcoms. Ally McBeal won Best Comedy in 1999, so there’s some precedent for putting dramedies in the comedy category.

That jumped out at me, too. No way would I classify Nurse Jackie as a comedy. Just because it’s 30 minutes long doesn’t make it a sit-com.

The lack of Community, the ubiquity of Glee, and the mere inclusion of Two and a Half Men make it hard for me to take any of this seriously.

…But this does make me happy. Archer is fantastic, and I’ve always liked Benjamin’s work.

Never seen Nurse Jackie, but yeah, it sure doesn’t look like a “comedy” to me.

Yeah, “Community” and its lack of nominations is what stands out to me. I’d like to see Breaking Bad sweep everything it was nominated for, but I know that’s wishful thinking. “True Blood” is a weird choice for best dramatic series, but I guess it’s a pretty thin field for dramas right now.

Possibly interesting tidbit – While looking through the full list, I found this under BEST SHORT-FORM ANIMATED PROGRAM:
“Uncle Grandpa” (CartoonNetwork**.com**)

Is this the first emmy nomination for a web-based program?

Another irked “Community” fan. The whole supporting actor in a comedy series thing is an embarassment.

Tony Shaloub? Did any of the voters actually watch the last seasons of “Monk”?

Archie Panjabi is pretty good in “The Good Wife” but Christine Baranski is not doing anything special on the show. She’s great, just not here. Cf. her nom. for guest on “The Big Bang Theory.” But you know that Panjabi has no chance at all.

Actors/shows shouldn’t get votes if they aren’t doing anything different from previous years. Taking it up a notch must be a requirement for previous winners.

No Best Actress Drama nod for Anna Gunn? That’s kind of a travesty.
