“Rob Lowe/Snow White moment: Check”
What the hell was that number?
Not watching the Emmy’s but I saw on Yahoo that two of the actors from “Modern Family”, Ty Burrell (Phil) and uber-MILF Julie Bowen (Claire) both won for Best Supporting Actor/Actress, which kind of surprised me, as I would have guessed that they were both playing lead roles…
Anyways, Congrats to them both; they do a great job with their parts, and I have to say that overall, Modern Family is my favorite show on television.
I’d say that Ed O’Neill and Sofia Vergara are the leads on that show. It IS pretty much an ensemble show, but they’re the focus. All the other characters are the children/grandchildren/in-laws of the Ed O’Neill character.
Loved the Jane Lynch intro. Wow Modern Family is racking up the wins! Go Sheldon! Lol at “White Castle”.
Interesting bits with the controversial Gervais and Sheen.
I loved it.
I was pleased that Margo Martindale won, as did Friday Night Lights, for writing.
I just had the Emmys on for a few minutes but got annoyed with it because they keep playing some music that sounds like a ring tone to me. At first I thought they were actually doing a bit where Jane Lynch was going to take a call or something, but it kept happening.
Ed O’Neil was actually also nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, and Sofia Vergara as Best Supporting Actress. Apparently Modern Family is considered a show without actual leads.
I feel kind of bad for Chris Colfer of Glee, who was also nominated in the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category. Regardless of how his show is classified, he wasn’t really playing a comic role this past year. I believe the episode that was submitted was the one in which his character spends a lot of time angry and crying because his father is in the hospital and near death after a heart attack. While I think Colfer turned in a fine performance, it wasn’t exactly what I’d call a laugh riot.
Is it just me or did Julianna Margulies’s dress look like it was made on the planet Vulcan out of Vulcan bubble wrap?
Lived the Hallelujah cover.
But :_( Andy Whitfield
It may have been a conscious decision by all of the actors in order to emphasize the ensemble nature of the show. I believe they choose which category they’ll try for when they submit their scenes.
Holy crap. The Amazing Race won.
I did not see that one coming.
I thought this would finally be Jon Hamm’s year… but YAY COACH T.!!!
I wasn’t paying close enough attention this year, but last year or the year before, I remember seeing obvious annoyance on Hugh Laurie’s face when he lost the award.
I thought it looked like those flattened marbles you use when playing Pente.
Julianna Margolies looked like a Dalek.
Gwyneth Paltrow proved that she has the fashion sense of a pygmy marmoset.
I can’t believe they gave awards to “Mildred Pierce”. That was some of the worst programming I’ve seen, and Winslet sucked in it.
I like Jane Lynch, but thought she was sort of so-so last night. She carried it off, but her humor seemed sort of “canned” and not all that spontaneous or original.
The only time I laughed out loud was the award for Best Actress in a Comedy.
That all of them went on stage was hysterical, and it worked very well! You could tell they all pretty much liked each other and it was a great bit!
Other than that, I was REALLY happy to see Margo win for her stellar role in Justified, but the rest of the show was ho-hum.
I really liked the Best Comedy Actress pageant. It had to be organized (since there was no video montage), but I have to believe Amy Poelher and Tina Fey started the ball rolling on that one.
I didn’t notice until it was mentioned on the radio this morning…Fox won 0 Emmys this year! WOW and with the show on Fox too. Double Wow! Will we see sweeping changes at Fox?
Didn’t Gwyneth Paltrow get one for GLEE?
Yes, she did. Guest performance, and Glee also won “Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series.” Plus Futurama was outstanding animated show, So You Think You Can Dance won two choreography awards and one for lighting design, House and Family Guy got awards for sound mixing, and American Idol won for technical direction.
But that was their total haul. Really, I’d say Fox got Skunked.
