Since I had my last class for the semester last night, I feel the need to share the joy with fellow students on the board. Also, faculty members feel free to share the grading crunch pain. If you give everyone A’s, your pain will end soon.
How long a break do people have? Do you have any fun plans for the summer? When is your graduation date? I have three weeks off until summer I classes. My fun plans for July-September are to relax. I’ll get my MBA May 2007.
I’ve still got four exams left, although I’m over halfway through now though as I’ve already had five. I finish on the 16th, although we’re currently experiencing a heat wave which is making it impossible to study. I bet as soon as the 16th comes it’ll start raining again
Last day of classes for me, too. We here at Small Private School have a little thing we call “Quad Party”. It’s a day of public drunkenness and fun. The school springs for a bunch of free food and festivities at the athletic center and pub(l)ic safety is much more lax on alcohol laws. It’s not uncommon for people to bring their teachers a bottle of alcohol/be drunk for an 8:30 class/drink in class under the guise of an inconspicuous bottle.
The problems are actually very very small. Everything’s kept cool and under wraps and the students end up drunk early and often and contained, which is good.
All that is peachy-motherfucking-keen until the new mayor stepped in. One of the planks in his platform was to curb underage drinking (like legislation will ever stop that). So, about a week ago, rumors circulated that the mayor was going to shut our shindig down. It got less menacing as the week passed, with just having cops going around being hardasses. This morning, some student threatened the mayor’s live via phone call. That is what we call a Very Bad Move.
We’ll see what happens now. The festivities are about an hour and a half from being put into full swing.
I just finished my last class this morning. I have one project to finish up and turn in next week. I have finals next week but am not too worried. Oh, and then a two week field trip for a one-credit class that leaves right after finals week. That takes me to the end of May. I have all of June off and start my summer class in July. That’s a four week class, so I’ll have the last part of August off.
I hope to graduate either Winter 2007 or Spring 2008 with a BS in Geology.
I had my last finals on Tuesday. My grades came in today and I kept my 4.0, which is good (I just finished my sophomore year–the longer I go without getting anything lower than an A, the more painful it’s going to be if/when I finally do).
I’m back with my family now. I’ll be working a little, but I’m taking the next few days to be a bum. I don’t think I’m going anywhere, let alone anywhere exciting. I’ll be back at school in August for band camp.
If all goes well, I’ll graduate in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Music in composition.
I’m finished with exams, but I only know one grade – B+ in design of thermal systems. I had a group project in that one; our formal report came in first place in the class competition, winning each of us a little plaque and $50 (to be mailed out when the department sees fit). I’m awaiting grades in structural mechanics, air conditioning, and automotive engineering. The final exam in the automotive class was another group project; I’ve been informed by the professor that my group’s project was one of the top two in the class.
I’m currently seeking summer employment – preferably an internship of some kind. One of my mother’s closest cousins thinks my lack of employment is my fault, since I obviously haven’t been trying hard enough to find a job during the semester.
I took my first final this morning, and it was much easier than I had thought it would be. No more Human Situation for me! (Its an extremely difficult english course, the weeder course for the honors college at my university) I now have two papers due tuesday for my Judaism course, a final wednesday, and another paper due friday. The papers will all be long, but not too difficult. Im aiming for a 3.25 this semester, so I can pull my grades up over a 3.0 and keep my scholarship.
Once thats all done, Im starting an internship at a property tax firm. It should last all summer, and pay enough that I don’t have to worry about having a 20+ hour job this school year and I’l have the money to get my own apartment next summer if I can’t find a roommate again. It’l be so nice to be out of the dorms.
