English Football, how did your team do?

Well that’s another season almost over :frowning:

Manchester City finished 14th in the premiership, a bad position but it could have been worse I guess. We got to the 6th round of the FA Cup for the 2nd season running only to be knocked out, this time by Blackburn.

The rags from mould trafford won the league much to my dismay. The rags are also in the FA Cup final and if there is a God he’ll make sure they lose.

My other favoured team, Rochdale, finished just 1 spot off the play-offs having suffered just 2 defeats in 18 games, earlier in the season they were 2nd bottom and relegation was on the cards. The manager was sacked and wheeee" they went on a roll

I guess the surprise of the season was the relegation of Leeds. They reached the play-offs last season and not so very long ago were playing in the UEFA Cup. Just goes to show how the mighty can fall

Promoted to the Scottish Premier League. Only just, I felt like Gretna were trying everything they could to throw it away. Interestingly a lot of my family are from Dunfermline and it looks like Gretna and Dunfermline Athletic could be swapping places.

BBC2 Scotland has a Gretna documentary on tonight at 9:00.

As for English Football I was disappointed by Newcastle’s season and the sacking. Roeder should have had another season with a fit team. I just hope Paul Huntington gets a game next season now Glen Roeder has left.

:frowning:

Shows how much attention I’ve been paying…
:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:frowning:

Room over there for two, Kythereia? :frowning:

At least the ladies’ team have done well.

Funny old year for Ipswich. With Jim Magilton caught in the headlights as a rookie manager, it was often ‘win one, lose one’. He’s proved to be very good at finding the cheap but useful signings from lesser leagues, and has also managed to turn the squad half-Irish, which I approve of  What we’ve got now should be a team to reckon with come the autumn.

Recently there’s been constant talk of a takeover, too. Which would see grubby little Sheepshanks out the door with few tears shed.

Not for those of us who’ve watched them arseing around the Championship.

And I’d have managed to summon up a twinge of sympathy for them going down, if it hadn’t been for the true colours of too many of their fans coming through the other week, with an old-school pitch invasion and attempt to attack the Ipswich fans.

Dirty Northern Bastards, without a doubt.

Gorilla Man: I have to admit that I don’t have much sympathy for Leeds because of the constant pitch invasions and violence associated with that motley crew of so called fans.

Anyway, I know from past postings that you follow Ipswich and so I’ve kept an eye on their performances, some good 'uns and some bloody dire. Look on the bright side, you don’t have to play Leeds for a while

Chew Barker: Gretna have done damn well matey, not long ago (5 years?) they were a non-league club and now they’re up with the big boys. I just hope they stay the course

As the saying goes around here “Up the Arse” , yep the girls did well

another disappointed arsenal fan here. Could have been worse and we might pip Liverpool for third still, but fucking hell

…I mean, I know Henry and van Persie were huge loses, but i never realised that they were literally the only two players we had who knew when to actually take a fucking shot.

Again though, huge respect to the ladies team - a quadruple for fucksake! First English team to win the women’s UEFA cup as well.
