As it does not seem to be obvious to some here I will note the fact that the poster Wildest Bill is not posting many of his questions or opinions in good faith and is actually a fairly clever gadfly/troll (sort of blended category in this case) and he is in the process of seeing just how obnoxious he can make an opinion, or more precisely express an opinion, in order to rile up certain segments of the teeming masses into a rabid, howling froth of outrage. (RHFOO)
The more you feed him the more he wants. He’s got a fever for the flavor and a very well tuned sense of what to say to generate maximum shouting and still allow himself a safe fallback position. As some point he may step so far out of bounds that he gets banned but he has done an excellent job so far of staying in the tube of that particular wave without letting it crash over him.
Before someone starts another one of the “WB is an insane jerk” threads please remember this is what he lives for and what he wants. You are rewarding him with the precious attention he craves. The RHFOO is his most sought after reward and ignoring him the worst punishment.
You know, I don’t know how I’ve done it, but I barely am aware that Wildest Bill is here. I mean, I see his posts now and then, and yeah, sometimes they irritate me. But I usually avoid opening threads started by him. All this time he’s been here, I really don’t know much about him. It really is possible at times to just be oblivious. In this instance, I recommend it!
I sometimes get irritated with other members of this board (and they with me). But I cope. We all do.
On cursory viewing, it’s looks like maybe 95% of his own posts on the board are either in threads he’s started or in threads started or in response to threads he’s started.
One way or the other, it’s all about Bill. Just one giant wankfest.
I do think it’s time to move on and get back to positive posting Hopefully, he’ll find other boards to play with.
astro, I completely agree with you but so what? What harm is he doing? I find his drivel and the self-righteous bile it inspires to be the most entertaining stuff that happens here. SDMB is not 911. It is primarily for entertainment and to say his posts and posts concerning him tie up valuable bandwidth and server resources is just too silly.
Why not just do what Yosemitebabe does and exercise your right to switch off?

Yes, I’ve had enough of the “I hate WB” thread too. Which is why I’m closing this one. (I count a thread saying he’s a troll, a gadfly, and obnoxious as identical to a thread saying you hate him.) Euty has already made the point clear
