I know he was ignorant on many things and maybe a bit on the dense side but doesn’t this board exist for the benefit of people like him? Kicking him off it seems to be pretty harsh. I was just wondering if someone could give me a reason why?
I’m guessing things just, in general, reached a critical mass. The death of a thousand mosquito bites.
[sub]I’m not comparing Bill to an insect, just saying that the Mods seemed irritated with him often, and if something causes minor irritation over a long time, well, it makes you do things to stop the irritation.[/sub]
He was banned?!?!
cue Mormon Tabernacle Choir
HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH! Happy days are here again! Whoo-ha!
OK, I don’t think those are the exact words to Handel’s Messiah, but it’s close enough, right?
Perhaps Bill will take some solace in the fact that his banning has restored my faith in God.
Wait, sorry, I just checked: it restored my faith in Mods. My mistake.
Is there a particular thread that finally pushed him over?
My guess? Because he’s either hopelessly stupid or he’s a troll.
If he was hopelessly stupid, what was the point of having him here? I don’t mean “ignorant but capable of learning”, I mean a black hole of ignorance, sucking up rational thought, with an inexorable pull of dumb. He never learned anything for long (you’d convince him of something and he’d turn around and a week or so later he’d be spouting the same nonsense again) and he lowered the collective IQ of all those around him.
If he was a troll, it was correct to ban him as well. Given all the threads he had where he started topics “juts to get peepul riled up”, the troll theory seems more likely.
He was told several times by mods and admins to quit starting topics for the sake of pissing people off, and his latest: here, is probably what did it.
What it comes down to either way, though is this was “Suicide by Mod”. His last go-round, he was point-blank told to cut it out or else, and he skirted the line so closely that he was saying his goodbyes. Most people who didn’t want to be banned would have learned something from the experience, but not Bill. He even said he’d e-mail all his topics to a Mod so they could double-check him, so that this wouldn’t happen again. And what does he do? He starts another psychotic topic, in GQ!!! yet, only 2 weeks or so after his promise to “reform”. And now bill’s gone.
<sigh>
That sounds sssooooo good.
“Bill is gone!”
“Bill is gone!”
“Bill is gone!”
“Bill is gone!”
Say it loud and there’s music playing
Say it soft, and’ it’s almost like praying
“Bill’s gone”

I would add to Anthracite’s post that IMHO becoming unpopular with your fellow posters can also be a major factor in your becoming banned. (This is not the first time I’ve seen this type of thing happen).
See the thread linked by Fenris, in particular this post (response to the third quote)
On one hand, I’ll miss his stupid topics-because it was like car wreck.
On the other hand, I don’t need the headaches the man gives me.
I’d like to submit a counter question: Why would anyone need to wonder why Bill is gone?
Only if he learns something. For those experiences true sadness, take heart and stay tuned for WildestBill II – Invasion of the Sock Puppets.
I stand corrected.
eh em. experiencing
I wouldn’t worry too much about that Waveryly. His posting style is very, uh, distinctive. The admins/mods will probably catch him before he posts more than hmmmm, 5 times.
Good Grief. I ASKED him to stop with the “lets terrorize the terrorists” threads, but would he listen? No. I never really hated the guy, but you’d think he would at least TRY to improve. But he never seemed to.
I firmly believe that he was trying to get banned. The last couple of weeks clinch it. I don’t understand why, but he just kept on asking for it. Too bad. With just the TINIEST fraction of a smidgeon of self-control and self-awareness he would have been a worthwhile member of the boards. Sure he was ignorant, but I don’t think he was really stupid. But he never seemed to moderate his behavior.
I’m sorry he’s banned, but what can you do? If he didn’t want to be banned, he knew that he had to grow up, just a bit. Not even that much. But he refused, on purpose I believe.
Oh, man, I’d hate it if Bill couldn’t keep himself away from the boards and registers some socks. That would be just pathetic. There’s no way he could disguise himself, what with his dyslexia. Unless the whole “Bill” persona was a put-on from the beginning. But no one could stay in character that long, could they?
He wanted to be banned, because then he could go back to the Pizza Parlor, or the Left Behind Boards and say-see, this is what happens, I’m a martyr, blah blah blah.
And you KNOW he’s reading this right now.
Who cares? Crack open the beer and pass out the confetti!
I’ve never been quite positive, but I think it was, at least to some degree. When he got really, really mad, his spelling and grammar would improve as he fell “out of character”.

I now just noticed red_dragon60 was banned too. Anyone got the scoop?
Ol’ Bill finally caught one, eh?
I honestly don’t know how I feel about that.
And that’s an odd feeling.
Personally, I hate to see someone get banned. I don’t know why, I just do.
But… some things just happen.
As far as I’m concerned, the guy never bothered me. I actually thought some of his stuff was funny, if a bit off.
I sure wasn’t apart of what got him banned as of today, or even know what happened, so there’s no need to comment on that.
I just wanted to comment that to me, anyways, it isn’t a situation to crack open the champagne and start throwing out the confetti- I think it sucks.
On preview I just noticed red_dragon was banned too?
Huh.
Don’t know what to think of that either- good or bad… just… huh.
Could red dragon and WB have been the same person?
