Enter Your "Sponsor My Membership" Requests Here

Hi guys, I’m broke right now. Like “Costco-size packs of Ramen-broke”. Things are really really really tight around here. If anybody would mind covering me this year, I would be eternally grateful. The good news is that I’m chartered - so I’m a cheap date!

Thanks, I promise I’ll come through for someone else next year.

done!

Pay it forward when you can.

Thank you Rick! Really, honestly, sincerely THANK YOU!

Okay, I seem to have figured out how to use PayPal to subscribe for someone else. I can still sponsor two Charter Members, or one Member. PM, email, or post to let me know.

I also volunteer to keep sponsor two current members. Please send me a PM or email with your username and userID.

Sorry I haven’t been back for this weekend, but my offer stands. And thanks to my fellow Dopers for their sponsorship!

Regards,
Shodan

I would happily pay for a few younger type student Dopers as a hands across the generations kind of thing. I’ll bid 4. Just email me and we can do this on the qt.

I’m good for a couple of renewals too. Just PM me.

I renewed my own Membership a month or so ago.

I tried just now to do it for a Doper who said they couldn’t. This is what it told me when I clicked on " Subscribe"

Didn’t even give me the OPTION of re-upping and then altering the User ID # to reflect that of the person I wanted to sponsor. So, what’s the go-around for this? Or, can folks only sponsor another Doper if their own membership is about to expire?

It’s a bit confusing at first. Here is what you do:
You don’t need a password to pay up a subscription fee for another user. All you need is their User ID number, which you can get by clicking on their user name and mousing over View Public Profile in the drop down menu, among other methods. The user ID will appear at the end of the URL in the Status Bar. (Lower left of your screen). Write this number down.
Next cut and paste one of the following urls into your browser
CHARTER MEMBER SUBSCRIPTION:
https://securesite.chireader.com/cgi-bin/sdmb/subscribe.bat?subscriptionid=1&userid=XXXXX&amount=7.48&currency_code=USD

REGULAR MEMBER SUBSCRIPTION:
https://securesite.chireader.com/cgi-bin/sdmb/subscribe.bat?subscriptionid=1&userid=XXXXX&amount=14.95&currency_code=USD

You will now have to change the xxxxx (which will be YOUR user ID to the user ID number of the person you wish to pay for, then hit Enter or click the Go button. The page should now display their user name and account information, and you can continue the payment as normal, using your CC data.
(shamelessly copied from TubaDiva’s sticky with a couple of changes.)

I can also help someone out, either charter or not… PM or e-mail me!

Um…that’s what I did, but couldn’t get past the software believing I was signing up again for ME.

:dubious:

::: Shrug:::
On the two that I did, as soon as I changed the user ID the name changed.

Your links worked for me perfectly.

Please confirm that you’ve been extended.

If I don’t get back the extra $22 shrug oh, well.

Go up to the address bar and change the user ID number(userid=XXXX) to the user ID of who you are trying to renew. Hit enter and the name on the screen will change. I just tried it with several random numbers and it works every time.

Yep, came in here to say so as soon as the email came through. Thanks, Frank!

You’re welcome. Sorry to have left you in limbo.

I am currently unemployed and the horizon is bereft of prospects, so I humbly submit my name for consideration for sponsorship.

Zebra I’d be more than happy to help you. Unfortunately, I have to go the “must use your password” route. If interested, either PM or email me with it and then log out. I’ll have it done in the twinkling of an eye.

I will sponsor two who do not reside in, and are not citizens of, a first world country*. PM me.

*I don’t really want to make a big deal of this, it’s more just to make it interesting and as a minor point of difference. If I get no takers, I’m happy to sponsor anyone at all.
