Fluctuations, man.
Fluctuations.
Fluctuations, man.
Fluctuations.
I loved The Archer-T’Pal meld discussion.
Why? Because up until Archer said ‘I’ll walk you through it’ - I thought it was the same hackneyed “I know this is dangerous (Crewman) but I need you to use your special talents” scene we’ve had fifty billion times in Star Trek. The Archer line provided a much appreciated variation.
My favorite moment?
P-Chow! “Proceed.”
Archer’s about to run out of crew…
I see my transmission got through.
Oh, yeah? Well, fluc you Americans, too!
I’ve decided that I liked “Affliction” for the most part and I’m going to enjoy it again today. So there.
Dang, Archer kinda scared me when he grabbed Malcolm by the arm and yanked him. For a second there, I thought he was going to pull him down on the desk and karate chop him on the neck.
Me, too. I thought ths was one of the best ones so far.
“I suggest you adjust your comfort level.” What a great line!
I think it’s cool that the Columbia will launch on my birthday. Something like my 180th or so. I forget what year they said it was.
I’ve finally learned to accept the fact that, in the Trek universe, if I inject myself with cat DNA, I will, within the matter of minutes, turn into some sort of hybrid cat-man, with full cognitive abilities, but also a silky coat, a taste for Tender Vittles, and some way cool fangs. It’s rotten science, but it has occured so often in Trek over the years, that I no longer care when it happens.
So, since I’m rather late to the Enterprise party, tell me: is this the first post-Deep Space 9 reference to Section 31? Assuming that’s the organization Malcolm appears to really work for.
If so, then cool! As long as they don’t overdo it and Archer never learns about it.
It has been hinted at in some Trek forums.
Spolier abound:
I’ve been an off and on watcher of Enterprise as well. I caught the Section 31 reference but I had figured this was a semi-regular story arc of Malcolm’s. You guys are saying that this is the first time it’s been referenced in Enterprise? That Malcolm’s very first covert assignment we’ve seen leaves such a trail of breadcrumbs, people who aren’t even suspecting sabotage have no choice but to conclude Malcolm did it? Wow. No wonder Section 31 hasn’t been calling this guy for assignments.
You can’t help but wonder if Enterprise was canceled after the suits saw this episode.
So, that dream seems to indicate that Tri an T’Pol are joined forever touching and touched, wheather they meant to be or not.
I do have a fever. Please excuse spelling and such.
I don’t care.
I don’t care about Brow Ridges, Porthos or Interspecies Sex.
I care about who the hell is/was/will be Future Guy.
I am convinced that very few people actually read these threads before posting in them. We’ve been discussing the Section 31 connection since the first few posts!
:dubious:
Also, Viva forgot to put SPOILERS in the title, but you can consider every Trek thread to be a spoiler thread, since we’ve done it that way for nigh on 3 yrs now, at least. No need for boxes.
That interpretation wouldn’t explain Hoshi’s similar dream.
Boxes!? Ve don’t need no stinkin’ boxes!
I liked the episode. Using Augment DNA in Klingons and having this effect seems quite consistent with the feel of Trek. Do it on Battlestar Gallactica and “I kee you”. Not having thought about all the options, this seems like the “best” way to be consistent with TOS. Plastic surgery, no - Klingons don’t wear lipstick. Raping humans, no - Klingons would see the offspring as inferior. Klingons warriors would look on ‘their’ Augments as strong warriors who just suffered from disfigurement. Between TOS and STtMP you would explain how they all died out or were still around in the empire but lived in Southeast Klingon, on the wrong side of the tracks.
Hey, you think Khan was really a Klingon Augment? {just kidding}
Reed’s motivations are not well defined. He can see Section 31 has great intel. They knew about the Klingon’s experiments and their problem. But Malcolm’s been Starfleet for a long time, and through thick and thin. I would see him spilling the beans to Archer et al. and having Section 31 put out a contract on him. He should only keep quiet if Section 31 was mounting a bigger, better campaign to fix the Klingon problem (for good or bad) and he didn’t want Archer to screw it up.
I really would rather that the head of Section 31 had told Malcolm to make a choice, then walked upstage. Malcolm turns downstage, thinks it over, turns upstage, and walks to him. I need to think Malcolm had a longer indepth conversation with The Boss and has come to conclusions “beyond our ken”. Maybe I was tired and missed it.
I think the Rigellians should have killed Hoshi. Not to be mean, but come on. Would you leave witnesses? And I guess Homeland Security ain’t what it used to be.
So in the preview for next time, Archer gets turned into a Klingon. Or maybe just a Gremlin, what with the bubbling body parts. What next - an Andorian? Oh, oh, maybe … an actor :). “I’m not an actor! I’m a movie star” - Peter O’Toole in “My Favorite Year”
Overall, I liked that everything wasn’t happening in one tiny little universe. Storyline’s are going off in different directions with character’s developing out from under Archer’s eyes (whatever species his eyes are now). Fleeting thought: If you want consistency you should love Travis. He’s the only consistent character, for what that’s worth :).
You think T’Pol, Hoshi, and Trip are gonna have a three-way?
Makeup.
Klingon ridges are makeup.
