That kid was probably smart. Jake was doing normal math, IIRC, on DS9.
I’m sure you’re right with the DS9 info. But, in that TNG ep, they were trying to show that Diffy Q was a third grade course, not that this one kid was overly bright. As though the human condition had supassed us because of Roddenberry’s Technology Unchained Utopia™. I don’t know why that still annoys me…

But I can put together task chairs, printer carts and computer workstations; and can program VCRs and stuff. Does that count?
