Enterprise Cease Fire spoilers

What the Aesiron has said is unimportant, and we don’t hear his words.

We have a new ep tonight, “Congenitor” Did I spell that right? What with Tripp and Meriweather and all.

Go ahead and start the thread someone!

And I will refuse to post in it untill I actually see the show.

No amount of taunting or cajoling will get me into it before 7:00 - 8:00 pm CST Wodin’sday.

Serious.

Don’t even try.

This bug wasn’t as good as the last one…

You’ve got class, but when Wearia or I post the new thread, you’ll be on it like duck on a June bug.

More sniping = more unresolved sexual tension.

I don’t even want to think about how much money I’m going to blow on buying 31 freakin’ Season DVD Sets and at least 10 movies.

I just watched my old tape of The Tholian Web. And when I say “old,” I mean OLD – I taped it in 1991. And … you are absolutely correct, NoClueBoy. Except for the phaser-cutting phaser part. I bow to your superior knowledge of geeky Trek trivia.

Of course, I then had to discern what combination Spock was entering on that safe. He held his hand over the 3rd, 4th, and 5th buttons in such a way that it wasn’t possible to see which buttons he was pressing in which order. Three lights blinked on over the buttons in the following sequence:

5th button, then 3rd button, then 4th button.

Were that all there was to it, I’d conclude that these lights represented the safe’s combination (despite the fact that the combination to Kirk’s safe in “This Side of Paradise” was 5th-2nd-3rd-1st – of course, Kirk could have always changed the combination between episodes). But that’s not all there was to it. No no no no. Because on the sound track accompanying Spock’s three button presses in “The Tholian Web,” we hear four beep tones, and we also hear four clicking sounds of the buttons themselves being pressed!

Clearly, the 3 blinking lights were not indicative of the complete combination, as 4 buttons were pressed.

You are such a geek.

That was a compliment.

Nah, a true geek would have scoured the 'net for interviews with Nimoy or the scriptwriter for that episode* and found a real, definitive answer to what that combination was supposed to be.

*) A true geek would also know who the scriptwriter was for that episode without having to look it up. Which I don’t.

Dweeb!

That wasn’t a compliment.

I see you’ve never had a really good dweeb, then, Aesiron. Tsk tsk, ya don’t know what you’re missing.

The terms, Sir, are mutually exclusive.

The combination was supposed to be Kirk’s birthday (month and day only) as counted in Iowa (not Federation StarDates).

I actually was there on that SNL set and asked him later at the wrap party.

:dubious:
I lied! That never happened!

You’re missing something… Look again.

Ah, but NoClueBoy, the question asked of Shatner during that famous SNL sketch dealt with the combination to his safe during “This Side of Paradise,” not “The Tholian Web”!

What’s scary is that I’m actually inclined to believe tracer.

I picture him in my mind’s eye as being a wild-eyed dude in a study full of VHS cassettes of all worthwhile sci-fi, just waiting for an excuse to pop one of them in the VCR to prove someone wrong.

You know, I have VHS tapes of every episode of The Transformers and G.I. Joe*, which I made off the air in the 1980s. Some of them I even stayed in front of the TV while I was taping so that I could hit “pause” during the commercials and not record them.

And although I’ve taped every episode of Enterprise, my first couple of tapes are out on loan to a poor backwaters family who doesn’t receive UPN. (And wouldn’t you know it, the two episodes I needed to review to confirm whether or not any pre-NX-01 human-built ships could exceed warp 2.2 were both on those tapes that are out on loan! Hmph!)
*) Not including any G.I. Joe episodes made since Marvel Animation sold off the production rights to DIC, of course.

And if it makes you feel any better, I have never in my life seen a single episode of Farscape.
