Enterprise-Cold Station 12 spoilers

I love it.

Why didn’t they take Klingon stuff? Surely this bunch find like the leather and studs cool, not to mention the cutlery.

I started laughing when the Augment told Archer “You’re a competent fighter”. Kicking a guy in the face, then standing there waiting to see if he falls down is NOT a mark of competence!

Nor is slowly turning around (without looking) while holding your gun out to one side. Sloppy fight choreography there, as it was obvious that Bakula was waiting for the other actor to do the disarm.

Now now, it’s only the 22nd century. The magical “lifeform detector” technology we see in TOS and TNG is still in its infancy.

Yeah, in the NAZI lizard arc, we saw them use it, but it could barely diffirentiate lifeforms and could not give a clear reading of who or what it was, much less lock for transport.

I think Spiner actually had some pretty good facial acting in this ep. Though the script wasn’t all that, he pumped it up a bit. With a little smirk here, a slight wariness there, even some furtiveness with the eyeballs, man!

I like the idea of mini-arcs. Who started that trend? B5? Stargate? (DS9 had a maxi-arc, so don’t go there.)

Well, kids, I am going on shore leave this Thursday, not to return till Sunday. I hate being late to the ENT threads, but it can’t be helped.

Have fun.

When come back, bring genetically engineered pie.

Here, have some Og:

Or it could just be that it’s pretty good so far this year.

One bit I liked - when Malik put his gun away in order to kill Archer with his bare hands. Yes, I know that they had to - if he shoots him, it sort of screws up the rest of the series. But it actually makes sense in the context of the story as he seems to feel the need to prove his superiority (although I’m not sure if he needs to prove it to the ordinary humans or to himself). Of course, I rolled my eyes a bit at the “let’s put the hero in an ‘inescapable’ trap and leave” bit. And don’t tell me that he didn’t have time to kill him. How long would it have taken to snap his neck? But it was only a minor eye-roll as it follows a long established tradition in action and related genres.

Have fun on your long weekend, Viva!

Hah! Speak for yourself.
Kill Archer.
Promote Tripp

Maybe it’s more fun?

Heh…floccipaucinihilipilification (partially included in Og link) is one of my favorite words. Means “considering something to be worthless”. Nice word.

Thanks, Linus! As you can see, I ain’t gone yet.

The rest of the eps coming up look good: The Vulcan arc, the Babel stuff, Shran returns, and viral contamination!

If you put a bunch of mini-arcs together to make a maxi-arc, are you arc-welding?

Next week on Enterprise: The crew faces a nefarious trap laid by the Penguin! Can it be? Ensign Mayweather has a LINE? Tune in next week! ZAP! POW!

*Will our heroes escape from the virulent pathogens?

. . . . Will Archer ever get laid and drop that pissed-off expression?

Will Trip ever get T’laid … again?

. . . . Will Archer ever let Hoshi wear her hair down?

Will Archer cut the cheese … from Porthos’ diet?

. . . . Will Porthos turn out to be Daniel’s supervisor or Shadowy Future Guy?

Tune in weakly, uh, weekly, if you dare

. . . . Same bEnt time; Same bEnt Channel*

I never saw Soong as being evil. He’s an idealist that beleives in the sanctaty of life. He thought it was wrong that these lives were being held in suspension and never allowed to live. He didn’t free them to harm others, but to help them.

What we saw in the station was a man who’s ideals were coming at odds. The sanctity of the augments lives was conflicting with the sanctity of the human lives. This is the pain you see on his face.

Lousy no good morality! Always getting in the way of the evil genius!

Seriously, has there ever been a completely evil, mean-spirited psychopathic human character in any of ST series, ala Hannibal Lecter?

You, sir have not read Hannibal.

Kahn was one mean son of a bitch.
Ricardo Montalbon said the best villians were those who thought they were in the right.

This is true!

Kahn seems to be the closest one to hardcore evil in the ST Universe (as far as humans go). But, technically speaking, he was a product of the 90s. Where are the psychopathic human monsters of the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th centuries?

Tantalus and Elba II

Garth was insane, not Evil.

Criminally insane.
