Okay, I won’t be able to see this episode for a while, but I’m starting this thread anyway.
This is the first of the two-part Mirror arc which takes places entirely in that universe.

I’m actually pretty excited about this one, as that plot was one of my favs from TOS. Please, please don’t muck this one up, guys…!!
I’m afraid.
I’ll still watch, but I’ll be peeking from the edge of the blanket I’m hiding under.
Then I’ll come here and rant.
Unless it’s cool, in which case I shall be dying of a massive embolism.
Dag, I think I’m going to miss most of this one too…Damn you friday night plans!
One of the down sides of having a satellite dish is that the two UPN channels also show baseball on Friday nights. I have to wait until Saturday night to see it.
Dish Network has the local UPN and WSBK showing Enterprise.
BTW, it pretty well sucks.
I get WSBK & WWOR and both have baseball. Both have Enterprise scheduled for Saturday at 8pm.
I thought that was pretty cool. I especially liked the evil intro.
I went to the Festival of the Arts after work. So, I guess I’ll watch it Sunday at 11:00pm.
BTW, has anyone else been reading SciFiWire and Trek Today’s blurbs about interviews with ENT people? I may have to stop for a while, as what I keep seeing is really making me mad. Apparantly, the demise of Trek (ENT anyways) was a foregone conclusion in the minds of UPN/Paramount/CBS execs from the merger. Seems there were even plans for a new series of movies (possibly with ENT casts (I wonder if that would’ve worked, now we’ll never know) along with the continuation of mini arcs in the TV series exploring the possibilties brought up by the Stevens and Coto team (which might have fallen flat or might have worked, now we’ll never know).
The thing that causes my ire is the attitude of Berman and Bragga compared to everyone else involved. Out of all of them, Berman and Bragga just didn’t care that much about Trek. I mean, come on! If the two guys in charge won’t speak up for it, what chance does Trek have with an exec branch that hates sci-fi? Especially does Berman irk me here, since the majority of his working history has been centered on Trek. SHIT! If you don’t want to do it anymore, QUIT! Turn it over to someone who wants to be involved with it. Don’t tank the whole franchise!
I’m pissed.
Oh well, it’s only entertainment. But still, I really can’t understand that Hollywood attitude. I had thought Bragga was the more culpable of the pair. Turns out, maybe he was just not that good at sci-fi. Berman, tho, at times he was good. And he sold out. Caved. Tanked the franchise.
Oh yeah, the episode: See you here Sunday night! Even if poorly done, I’ll probably enjoy it just for spite. And you never know, it just might be good.
Back later…I hear there’s Mirror music over the opening credits too? Oh, how cool. But ya know, anything’s got to be better than the usual.
Ah, I see my first paragraph wasn’t clear. At the end of it, I should’ve said that those plans were being thought of or in the works before the exec shake up. After the shake up, Trek, the very founding franchise of the entire Paramount network, was out of favor.
Zinda! His face black, his eys red!
Hoshi, Hoshi, Hoshi! Evil Phlox! Evil Porthos! But no Evil Chef (sniff).
Liked the story. Liked the uniforms. Liked the dog.
Good lord, the acting… Keating and Bakula, particularly, really hammed it up. Yeeesh.
Pre-empted for the Yankee game!
grrrrr, stupid sports!
Ah thank Panda for the last minute figuring out of the auto record settings.
I enjoyed it. If the whole series took place in this universe I don’t think we’d be facing the cancelation.
Definately some stuff I liked
The new Trip, Jolene Blalock’s midsection, the crew not being a bunch of wusses
Acting, especially from Quantum was awful. God. I miss Picard.
Thought something I’m unsure of
The Kirk Era Ship
Does this line up with any events of TOS? Its cool but I’m worried about where they’re going with it.
Plenty of scenery-chewing, but that was fun! Mean and creepy, but fun.
Aesiron is sooooo going to wish he was Forrest. And then Archer. Hoooooooshiiiiii!!
I told ya Porthos would be a mean beastie.
Speaking of beasties…WTF does Phlox do other than torment every living creature he can find, including hapless Tellarite crewmembers?
Reed doesn’t have much dimension here, though he is quite the goon. Archer really should not have given him that gun!
Delta-ray-burned-face Trip is a sight to behold. Nice twist on the T and T “Romance.” I bet he makes everybody watch Starship Troopers on movie night. Every week. I’m surprised that he didn’t hold a grudge against Archer even after 4 hours in the Phone Booth From Hell.
Forrest isn’t as mean as he could be–but hey, that’s why there was a mutiny.
Gotta laugh…Mayweather doesn’t get to say much here either. When he tries, Archer shuts him up!
T’Pol’s hips are just weird. What’s going on there? The long hair on her and on Hoshi, however, is very becoming.
The only thing I have to wonder about with this Mirror Universe is: how do they sustain this empire and this cutthroat environment, with people betraying and plotting and scheming all the time? How do kids survive the playground? How does anyone survive at a family reunion? How do they even get this far? Did Archer murder his own father at some point? I wouldn’t be surprised.
Hoshi is still a teacher in the MU. What does she teach…How do say dirty words in any language so you can be the captain’s woman on any ship?
I’m going to watch the tape of this one again.
Aes, I got you Joan as well–the season finale (hopefully not series finale…)
Anyone else think that Evil Hoshi was like an Intendant-in-training?
The CGI for the Tellarite sucked really bad.
And again with the time travel crap. none of the other mirror-universe episodes needed a time travel element.
OK. I haven’t watched much original Star Trek. But SciFi channel just showed The Tholian Web (2 a.m. Central)…is that related to this episode? Was the ship they found the Defiant?
I regret my earlier pessimism. I thought this hour was pretty neat. Not without flaws, mind you. About which more later, after I organize my thoughts. But my initial response: pretty positive.
Wow. If she got that out of you, then I’ll probably die a very sticky death.
Don’t bother sending it to cplant… I start work again May 2nd. Send it to me directly and as fast as you can.
