Well, like, yeah, but who ya gonna call?
Archer shouldn’t be as bold as Kirk, but he should be more sure of himself and his mission. A little more confident.
He did just save the entire human race, after all.
You want to know what the problem is here, pal? I’ll tell you what it is.
Archer has Quantum Leapt into Kirk’s body, and he doesn’t have a clue.
^:dubious:^
And why not? Archer, not Kirk, is the first human to explore strange new worlds and seek out new life and new civilizations. He’s boldly gone where Kirk is going again.
I liked it, my wife like it as well. I wasn’t put off by the voice over, didn’t Picard use a paraphrase of the same words? The montage needs more color, perhaps a flyby of Jupiter and Neptune, hell Mars would work too, and you’d get a kind of rememberance of the original theme, and I would have like some bolder brass. But it ddefinately outclasses the original theme. In my wife words “wow” she was responding to the space dock scene, when the lights go on.
In one of the commercials leading up to Brent Spiner, I saw a green woman, so maybe, dare we hope?
On review scratch Neptune, the rings would be reminiscent of Voyager.
Yes, the Orions are going to appear soon and this time, we get to see the males too, which I’m more interested in anyway. I want to see if they’re just green skinned humans too or somehow different. There’s a species on DS9 that I always assumed were Orions and I’d like to see if I was right or not.

I usually tune out for the intro, so I haven’t even noticed it changed.

Giant ladybugs are feasting on his brain!
And his cheek is pierced with a roach clip. What a blend of 60’s and current television!
I was never that unhappy with “Faith of the Heart,” altho’ it is a bit too strident. But I liked the idea of that sequence, tracing the history of human exploration – seems very appropriate for what I hoped Enterprise would be (the origin story that GuanoLad seeks). While I like the new sequence, it’s not as interesting as Enterprise’s current one; we’ve seen it many times before.
I assume that Bakula’s voiceover was just a test track and that if this were to go into production it would be re-recorded. That said, I thought it was pretty good. Picard’s sounded weird to me at first too, but I got used to it.

Thanks for posting the link in the OP Aesiron. I hadn’t seen that.
I very much like the idea of going with a more DS9/Voyager-type opening, but I don’t think the clip we’ve seen is the best they could do with that. I do like the concept of incorporating the images of Earth and the Enterprise in dock. It somehow conveys the concept of being at the start of the voyage.
As for the voice-over… I don’t think it’s necessary. I agree with Vlad/Igor, it sounds wrong when anyone other than Kirk says those words (including Spock and Picard). Either write a new one or leave it out.

Have they redesigned the ship too? I’ve only seen a handful of episodes of Enterprise, but I don’t recall the front of the nacelles being red-tipped like they are in that new montage.
They’ve always had the bussard ramscoops as far as I can remember.

I didn’t really like the opening credits, but now that they’ve had them so long, I say keep them.
It would be one thing if they could get Jerry Goldsmith to compose a fabulous new theme for the show, but . . . eh . . . too late for that. (Of course his son Joel might do okay . . . )
Alexander Courage could do a hip hop style opening credits to the beat of Queen/Bowie’s Under Pressure
All right, stop,
Collaborate and listen
Trek is back with a brand new mission
Space… grabs a hold of me tightly
Final frontier coming at you nightly
Do we boldly go? – I don’t know
Star light and my nacelles glow
To the extreme I Star Trek like a vandal
Light up the sky and wax Suliban like a candle
If there’s a problem, I’ll be solvin’
Firing torps while the saucer’s revolvin’
On Enterprise prise baby
That’s Enterprise prise baby
I’m voting for NoClueBoy’s version!
