Enterprise Similitude & Spoilers

  1. I don’t see why it should change.
  2. Why should they be?
  3. Model rockets and planes are very light weight and flimsy.
  4. Good point
  5. That’s it! Thanks!
  6. No, for once they got the science right. An object in motion tends to remain in motion.
  7. Another good point.

[ol][]Say the simbiot was of an insect with a 1 day normal life-cycle or a turtle with a 150 year life cycle.[]The simbiot learns and acquires skills in these short days. How can he absorb them that quickly? How can the body grow without massive input of food? Where does all the built up sperm go?[]The model had an engine that could move it so it’s more than balsa wood, but true, the nacelles could be for show.[]Thanks[]Welcome[]The accretion field seemed like it was in motion and would retard the ship in motion.Thanks.[/ol]

Corner - They are both entertaining, and annoying.

Another Fine Episode ™

I really need to learn how to do the “TM” thing.

Anyway, I’m really glad to see all the postive comments here in the last few weeks, This is indeed three (count 'em) three good episodes in a row. I worry sometimes that someone from Paramount or UPN is going to wander in here, see all the supposed Star Trek fans bashing it all the time, and figure that even the fans don’t like the show anymore, and cancel it. So it’s good to see all the props.

Anyway, I really liked this show. Not just because it had more T’Pol’s Pajamas, either. The acting was great, I really felt for the way the players had to handle the tough decisions (Archer, Phlox, and Sim) and seeing them get all torn up inside made it a really involving episode.

One side note, not to Mully and Sculder this whole thing, but I don’t see the romance between Trip and TPol as much as between T’Pol and Archer. Remember we’ve pretty much seen that T’Pol would be willing to give up her whole career just to be with a brain damaged Archer. Sure she probably gave Trip/Sim a nice full version Vulcan massage offscreen (maybe they actually showed it in 'plants Canadian feed?) but he was gonna be dead soon, and the fact is she’s got it bad for Archer.

Back to the Nitpicking.

In my Canadian feed she wears a parka and polar bear skin trousers rather than those reavealing garments you guys keep talking about. She and Trip§ were shoveling snow at the beginning of the episode.

On windows, there’s some alt+numberpad thing you can type in, but I don’t remember what it is. Instead, run programs->accessories->system tools->character map. Look for the ™ character (or whatever). Click on it, then press the Select button, then Copy. Now go paste it anywhere.

On Mac, there’s a keycaps accessory that does something similar. Or an option+something combo to make ™, I don’t remember which key if is.

So i shall be catching this episode on rerun or the Download, whichever happens first. I cloned myself last night, and he became a sassy teenager so i had to put him down.

You sure you got the right one?

™? ™? Looks like ™? no matter what you paste

™? Supposes to be shin ,dammit.™?

yes, this and pigs growing organs will probably be the future. (whichver is cheaper) Headless clones grown in warehouses are too creepy. Pigs growing organs have the added benefit that they can not only give you a new heart, but a side of bacon to begin clogging that one up, also!

Ah,… the future!

Hey, Mama Plant lives on Carpenter .

No pressure, no pressure…

Ooo, a little more pressure, right there, you pointy-eared hussy…

Er, yes.

I didn’t see this episode last night; I was picking up my wife at the airport. I’m avoiding reading this thread in detail until we catch the show on the weekend repeat. The general response seems to be quite positive, so either I’m going to enjoy the episode or I’m going to have to come in here Monday morning and piss all over everybody. Guess which one I’d enjoy more. No, really, guess.

Guess it depends upon whether you’ve had a lot to drink.

Um, it looks like a superscripted TM to me. What do you see?

I do Alt 0153 and it looks like ™
¿Lõöky™ hêre®!

>>Here’s where my slow brain realizes the initial funeral is for Sim-Trip<<

The little title saying “Two weeks earlier” 30 seconds into scene 1 didn’t clue you? Hmmm…
>>Loved Sim-boy’s accent. I thought it was really good for Trip.<<

Like that kid from American Gothic and Slingblade, “I like the way you talk.”
>>Phase cannons can blow the Rust off the Bay doors. But what blows the Rust off the cannon doors? Okay, they do the cannon doors by hand. So what blows the Rust off the Airlock doors so they can EVA to get to the cannon doors?<<

The phase cannon array are permanently exterior fixtures, the do not retract.
>>Archer orders the pods back, but don’t you need them to maintain velocity in an accretion field?<<

Appantly, their inertia was sufficient to overcome any slowing down by the shit hitting the bow of the ship. Remember, too, the shit was coming form all directions. Only the shit in the line of movement (or close to that line) would have any effect. But, given that shit was also smashing into NX-01 from the stern, this may have cancled out any decelleration effects.

Viva, gp nuts with the spelling and grammar nits.
btw, I likeded this episode, uh huh.

they could have done the “Trip is replaced by his clone, who refuses to die, and grows at a normal level hereafter with all the memories” thing.

This episode also made me realize the massive space between Quantum’s nose and upper lip. All through his little I’ll do whatever it takes speech to Sim I couldn’t stop staring.

Tuvix.

btw, I can’t find anything on the phase cannon array for NX-01. The are external, aren’t they? Or am thinking of a different wessel?
