Yes, I suppose they can be. Look at the earliest example we have of Vulcan femininity, T’pring. She was kinda smokin’, in her own way.
I can hear the hairsplitting starting, so let me prempt it. Yes, T’Pau was the first Vulcan female seen, but T’Pring was there soon after. And hey, T’Pau looked pretty good for a woman in her third century.
She was over 200, wasn’t she? I doubt canon speaks on her exact age.
I think blowing up the stone face was the right idea. If the team missed even one Andorian by shooting through the eyes (maybe didn’t even see them), the Andorian would run off and the hostages would be toast.
But by blowing up the face, they get to shoot at some very confused Andorians, and have a way to chase after them if any get away.
Yeah, I saw an interview transcript. Berman said they canned it. I suppose it gives them a little more freedom. T’Pau as a series regular could never be in any real risk, since she has to be alive for Spock’s wedding, and any established or implied backstory would have to be respected.
We also saw three instances of Vulcan lies in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. And not only do they lie, they lie about lying. Vulcans should be interested in exploration? Vulcans males should be as resiliant as Spock? Vulcan females should be unattractive? It’s that kind of racist generalization that I hope survives into the 22nd century. I was hoping to find out more about the Vulcans with this series. For me, that means when I see something I don’t expect, I’m not going to complain about it just because I would have done it differently.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable for Spock, a Vulcan in the military, to be harder to topple than a Vulcan monk. Also, why would someone assume that being a hybrid would dilute Spock’s Vulcan strength? Maybe Spock is heterotic.
Judging from the online plot synopsis of next episode, I’d say we may see just what T’Pol is up to.
I’m thinking more along the lines of an episode with Hoshi in the decontamination chamber, but ya, even with her clothes on, Hoshi’s pretty hot! Maybe it was the “Fight or Flight” episode that I got to thinking that way. Something about her vulnerability that I found irresistable.
It looks like tomorrow’s episode–sorry, ain’t got no cite–will involve not just a comet but also the Vulcans again, and T’Pol may have some ‘splainin’ to do. At least, that’s what I got from the notes in the television guides. We’ll see.
http://www.epguides.com is a great site to keep up with your favorite TV series. Here is their Enterprise page. Apparently, the Andorians come back in February (“Shadows of P’Jem”).
My only gripe: Wouldn’t the Andorians see the flashlights through the eye holes? I mean, you can’t miss when three dark holes suddenly appear back-lit.
