Is the Horta a bug in any sense? It may be a cousin to the giant brain-sucking bug from the suckitudinous Starship Troopers.
And would you believe there was an Ensign Nahrat in the ST comics who was a Horta? How did that thing make it through the Academy? (I know, I know–it isn’t canon.)
There’ve been a few Horta officers in various novels.
I always thought it was stupid… like having a fish as part of the crew or something.
