Episode II DVD Owners Trailer--Spoiler Warning!

Any other Ep I DVD owners checked out the special Internet trailer that came online today? Your thoughts? Here are some of mine:

  1. Natalie Portman is hot.

  2. Slave I, and Jango Fett’s Mandalorian armor, look fuckin’ cool. It will be nice to see these babys engaged in some real action.

  3. Looks like Lucas is going with keeping some of the lighter, humorous tone. Witness the two exchanges between Anakin and Obi-Wan regarding the power couplings and coming to rescue him.

  4. CGI Yoda is . . . different. Going to be hard to get used to.

  5. There’s still a lot we’re not seeing–there are going to be some kick-ass battles in this movie.

  6. The Star Wars series will now have had both Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. It is to die for.

Anyone else?

My DVD-Rom player no longer works - I think the laser is misaligned - so I may never see this trailer.

I own the DVD. I have a DVD-ROM drive in my computer. I have a high-speed internet connection. I should be watching this trailer as we speak.

But, Lucas decided not to support Apple, so I can’t. Farging icehole.

Is this thing capable of being saved to a hard drive? Anyone wanna send it to me? I fit the criteria, really I do…

Max, Lucas has actually made the trailer available for Mac users:

Enjoy.

First, thanks KKBAttousai. I tried like the dickens to save the trailer last night to my PC.

Phil: It looks like the CGI Yoda (in the long shots) were very preliminary graphics. At least I hope. He doesn’t look as “real” as Jar-Jar does. ILM will fix that before May.

And you’re so very right about Natalie Portman.

Attack of the clones??
Yeesh…

CGI Yoda? Why? He’s already built! Just use him again!
Lucas has gotten too dependant on these CGI characters now… Part of yoda’s charm was the work of the master puppeteers that operated him. And let us not forget what happens when someone becomes too dazzled with the idea of a computer-generated character. The resulting Jar-Jar was a horrific addition to the last film.

Because they plan on having the character do things that would be outside the paramaters of puppetry in this movie. There are major battle scenes in this movie, some of which Yoda participates in.

I remember when Empire came out, everybody hated Yoda. “C’mon these Jedi are supposed to be badass fighters but their leader is a puny little green wimp who can’t even speak?” Then came the Ewoks who were hated so much that Yoda underwent a revisionist history to become such a beloved figure. Now of course the ultimate evil that is Jar-Jar, and the Ewoks are cool. I am wondering what kind of creation Lucas is going to put in this film that people will knee-jerk hate more than Jar-Jar.

This trailer was amazing. I was wowed and found myself laughing twice(the Obi-Wan lines). Maybe he is the new Han Solo.

By the way, it didn’t work out too well with the Lucas servers being bogged down, so the trailer is available to anyone, with or without DVD. You can get it at…

I recommend the 13 meg version. You can make it nearly full screen and not lose much quality.

Anakin, “We’ve decided to come back and rescue you.”

Obi-Wan, “Good Job.”

The Ewoks were never cool. Marketable, yes… cool, no.

Hmm… Somehow I just can’t imagine Yoda doing any battling… At least hand-to-hand combat style battling anyway.
This should well prove interesting.

Wait until you see Yoda take on Count Dooko. It’s a short, but hilarious battle.

yoda fighting…

it boggles the mind!

let me guess, and then you say yes/no/maybe so.

so… either this “count dooko” fellow is another midget, or yoda uses the force to fly about when he fights.

?

From what I hear, Count Dooko is played by Christopher Lee (I think) and Yoda seems to be the one truly kicking Sith ass all over the place.

Should be interesting

now i HAVE to watch it even more than before…
i cannot wait to see our superpowered midget whup arse.

Yeah, Dooku(Darth Tyrannus)is of normal height. You can see him twice in the DVD trailer. Go frame by frame and you can see him looking up at Obi-Wan as Obi-Wan floats in a tractor beam of sorts(I won’t say what it is for spoiler sake). And of course, he is the one fighting Anakin with the red light saber.

Yoda uses the force to fly around him really quickly. He overwhelms him very quickly. The whole fight doesn’t last much more than a minute or two. It’s more funny that exciting, but it should be entertaining.

Christopher Lee, who plays Dooku by the way, is going to forever be fixed as the classic Fantasy bad guy.

Three Lord of the Rings movies as Saruman and two Star Wars movies as Darth Tyrannus. His life is going to be interesting at least through 2005.

i couldn’t get the trailer to run; i guess it doesn’t like me.

oh well.

Did you try downloading it from the other sites, the ones that don’t require the DVD? Few people were able to get it to work with the DVD. Just download the small quicktime one.

It should work fine.

I hope someone has a CGI Christopher Lee in the works. That chap’s going to hit 80 next year, and he’s got a hella schedule yet ahead of him.
