I am afraid to imagine how awful some of the files must be when they could simply release them and then call them fake.
Stealing.
So, even here on TSD, the Epstein files and the failure of DoJ to produce them, seems to be losing the warranted attention. DoJ has blatantly failed to comply with the court order. What is the next step? Are contempt charges pending? A court date for anything? Venezuela, Davos and the ICE horror show seem to have successfully distracted almost everyone. Not the least of which is the media. I must be missing something, right?
Based on the memes I’m seeing, forcing the files through discovery is why the Clintons are refusing to testify and allowing themselves to be held in contempt.
Next is Republicans trying to point all the attention to the Clintons. But that card will be dealt no sooner than necessary. So as long as the other diversionary tactics are diverting attention effectively, this subject goes dormant.
ETA: Joey P gets it.
What you’re missing is that there is no functioning court system in the USA anymore.
My bad. It appeared that there were at least some judges willing to take a stand but its crickets, lately.
I’d generally note that if there are millions of files, sure, that could take a while to fully review. That’s not unreasonable (though, of course, Bondi said that they were aware of and reviewing these files for release last spring - so clearly that was a lie).
But let’s say that it takes me 1 minute to review a file. 5 millions files is 5 million minutes, before completion. That’s a long time from now, when the very last document can be released.
How long does it take me to release any particular file to the outside world? I’d vote that I can release any one document that you point at one minute from now.
That the end date might be far off is one thing. That no files are coming out implies that everything’s getting bottlenecked through a prime redactor. They need to build a story out of whatever’s not blacked out - and so they need to review everything in one big batch and create a consistent story.
There’s a court case that’s trying to force an outside party to oversee the review and release process, on the basis that we can’t trust the current administration to do it.
It will remain to be seen whether that works.
Trump himself signed the law for fucks sake. This noncompliance is willful for fucks sake again..
Working 24/7 that’s 10 Man Years (one person working for 10 years straight). How many people did she say were working on it? Hundreds? They should be more than 1% done by now.
Yes indeed. And…? What will happen?
(crickets)
He also agreed to release his tax returns and now the company Booz Allen has lost 2/3rds of its value because Trump is punishing them for hiring a guy who used his access to government systems to get Trump’s tax return, and released it.
What could they do?
Contempt charges, perhaps? That’s the normal procedure when someone defies a court order.
Millions of files? Bullshit. Absolute and total bullshit.
Just like the inserection, it should be an open and shut case. Repulicans are just muddying the waters and it’s total bullshit.
DoJ releases 3.5 million pages of files today. Says they’ve now released everything, but they previously said there were 6 million more to go, so not sure where the other 2.5 million went?
In the files released, there are a number of heinous reports from complainants, including of child rape accusations against Trump, some dating back 30+ years. Also, orgies with minors, threats of murder, SA of minors with Don Jr, Eric and Ivanka present, etc. I won’t link as I don’t know how much is verified just yet. Lots of stuff being shared on Threads right now.
BZZZTTT! Shred shred shred shred.
Does the latest illegally late release feature entire pages that were dipped in black ink like the previous release?
Yes, but there’s also some real revealing stuff, naming names. But from what I’ve seen on Threads the DoJ has pulled down some especially damning stuff almost immediately.
