I always like to click to the front page and look at the other articles a website is posting. What I noticed here was the ‘author’ names: roro, trang, hthao, konkon, phanh and the author of that article susu. And, that’s just from the first page.
Those don’t seem names of actual authors, they seem like user names/handles (and half of them are just repeating syllables (roro/susu/konkon).
When I googled the website, I found a snopes page calling something false, and one of the reasons given was
Some of the posts sharing the claim featured links in top comments leading to articles hosted by WordPress blogs, such as one story hosted on the [northwavenews dot com] website.
Also, I see that it has 7000+ articles, but they only date back to January of this year (as does the domain). That’s over a hundred articles a day. That seems…excessive.
I also see on their about us page that they claim to be a sports media platform providing fans with unbiased coverage. I’m not sure why they’d even say that. Virtually every article I could find related to sports was actually about Trump.
I didn’t actually read any of the articles, but I’m guessing they’re either written by AI or just stolen from other websites.
The Supreme Court did rule on some case near or just after the end of Trump’s first term, and I believe likewise with Nixon, that the general shape of Presidential immunity is total and absolute for actions that are fully a part of the job - e.g. ordering the killing of a foreign agent who is plotting to blow up an American school. And for activities that are completely outside of the job, like if the President murdered his girlfriend because she’d cheated on him, he would be on the hook for it as much as any other guy who’d done the same.
As I recall, the ruling in the Trump case had largely just said that, for a judge to make a decision on Presidential immunity, they need to really provide a strong analysis of the Constitutional duties to strictly define what is covered and what isn’t. You can’t just handwave the matter away to one side nor the other.
The problem is that the court also said that basically everything the president does should be assumed to be an official act because to do otherwise would have a chilling effect on the vigorous executive pr something like that.
It’s slightly different - they said that he has absolute immunity for “core” official acts, presumptive immunity for other official acts , and no immunity at all for unofficial acts. Murdering a girlfiriend would be an unofficial act. Pressuring the VP would be an official act and he would be presumptively immune - but the prosecution could overcome that presumption. The problem is the many possible actions that aren’t clearly official or unofficial.
What if he ordered Seal Team Six to do it? Ordering a military unit to kill a terrorist is clearly a core official act. You don’t think she was a terrorist? Sorry, core act, it’s not up for discussion. Questioning that would have a chilling effect on the vigorous executive the Supreme Court wants to protect.
Look , you can believe that if he had Seal Team 6 murder his girlfriend the current Supreme Court would see it as a core official act as long as he claimed she was a terrorist. That might even be correct for the current president. But the decision doesn’t actually say that
even if the only reason it doesn’t say that is because explicitly saying that would have made it difficult for any judge to rule that Biden wouldn’t be immune for ordering Seal Team Six to kill Trump before the election.
Rep. Robert Garcia of California, the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, accused Bondi of leading “a White House cover-up.”
“Thanks to united Oversight Committee Democrats, along with the support of several Republicans, the Attorney General will now appear before our committee under oath,” he said in a statement Tuesday. “No more lies. No more distractions. We want the truth — and justice for the survivors.”
No more lies? Good luck with that. No more distractions? THE DOW IS AT 50,000!
Rumor has it (MSNOW link) that Pam Bondi may be on her way out, to be replaced by Lee Zeldin (currently in charge of dismantling the EPA). This raises some logistical questions:
How do you make sure Bondi stays silent? Maybe she’ll join Noem over at the “Shield of the Americas”. Shielding pedophiles from accountability. Well, that’s a mission I guess.
How do you get Zeldin on board? There is an assumption that he approves of Trump’s activities with Epstein and that he is happy to participate in what has so far been an absolutely cack-handed coverup. Indeed, it is bold to assume anyone would want to take on the role of trying to manage this shitshow. This also increases the number of people who have access to the source material and one does not keep secrets by telling more people.
What is Zeldin supposed to do to be effective in this role? If the goal is to make people stop talking about how Trump might be a child molester and to make all of the evidence around that disappear, what can he do that hasn’t already been done? Let’s pull some broadcast licenses from some news networks! That’ll make Trump look innocent! Let’s prosecute Trump’s political opponents! Nobody will see through that!
These are idiots largely operating in a fantasy world. They’ll have some imaginary idea of what the AG should be doing, that for whatever reason Bondi is not doing, but it’s very likely disconnected from reality.
I’m kind of wondering if the idea is that Zeldin will be less , I don’t know, confrontational. Just like a bunch of women in the administration have the Mar-a-Lago look , a lot of them have a particular attitude/demeanor , I assume because they believe that’s what Trump wants. Zeldin isn’t going to maclient list is on his desk waiting to be reviewed and later on say the list doesn’t exist or show up to hearings with binders full of pre-written insults.
There is no idea, thinking Trump has a plan is just silly at this point. There is zero chance this is related to being less confrontational either, Trump would want more confrontational if anything. Nope, this is 100% based on his expectation of the impossible.
“Attorney General Pam Bondi has been leading a White House cover-up of the Epstein files. She has weaponized the Department of Justice to protect Donald Trump and put survivors in harm’s way by exposing their identities,” Rep. Robert Garcia (Calif.), the top Democrat on the panel, said in a statement. “She will not escape accountability and remains legally obligated to appear before our Committee under oath. She must answer for her mishandling of the Epstein files and the special treatment she has given Ghislaine Maxwell.”
