Er 12/8

That was probably the best episode I’ve seen in a long time.
Two very interesting surprises and some really funny stuff here and there.

Did anyone watch at all or has everyone but me given up on the show?

I liked the episode a lot, as well. I think the show’s been consistently good this season.

And um, Abby? O M F G.

I watched, loved Eve decking the obnoxious Santa but it seemed out of character for her. Not that I really know that much about her character but she’s usually so professional. Maybe I’m wrong on that since I am not that familiar with her from the few episodes she was on but it seemed more like Sally from 3rd Rock.

How did Sam ever get to be in charge of the nurses? She hasn’t been there as long as some of them, she’s not very professional, she brings her kid to the ER and lets him run around everywhere and steal body parts, and she always seems to be stepping over some line. If it were a normal workplace she’d have been fired long ago. The black nurse (Hela?) and Chuny should sue, I suppose there was some throw away line way back when that they turned down the job?
So, was that Morris’ real voice? Wow. I think they’ve decided to make us like Morris now, having him show up Weaver and show some actual doctor skills and sing like an Angel. At least he’s not a two-dimensional incompetant character any more.

And for the surprise at the end …

I was actually looking forward to this episode (something I haven’t done for a long time with ER) and liked it a lot, though for a second there at the end it looked like it was going to be the last straw. They tease me and make me think there’s going to be some big moment with Abby and Luka and then it’s a frickin’ compass? All was forgiven with the big announcement at the end, even if it was a tad bit eyeroll worthy. I wanted something big, and I got it. I’m so happy that Abby and Luka are back together. Sam was never good enough for him. I can’t stand her.
As for Eve decking Santa: I think her breakdown was the result of a combination of things, including having her boyfriend break up with her on Christmas Eve. I liked it because it gave her character some dimension besides being the hard-ass who gets other people to do her dirty work for her (see below).
Sam got to be in charge of the nurses because Eve suckered her into it. She wanted someone to fire Helais (how the heck do you spell it anyway?) and didn’t want to do it herself. There’s no way Chuny would have fired her. So she gave Sam this big speech about moving up, promoted her, and then told her her first order of business was to fire Helais. Sam later called her back when all the nurses were sick, and Eve praised her for it.
And yeah, Morris is starting to grow on me!

As much as I’ve thought about ditching the show, I just like watching tv on thursday at 9. That more than anything, has kept me watching.

I do like Neela and Abby and of course Kovach who is waaaay sexier than George Clooney could ever dream of being.

For me this was the best episode of this season but unfortunately missed the first fifteen minutes - anything exciting happen.

Nurse chick decking Santa was fav scene, and Morris singing so well was oddly nice.

Loved the ending - that may be the reason to keep watching.

The actor that plays Moriss is a singer in real life – I remember reading that in a fairly recent ER thread here in CS.

Oh yeah – Scott Grimes is his name.

This was the first episode in a while that I watched live, not on tape several days later, so I get to contribute to the thread. Yea!

Abby pregnant was a suprise to me. Kovac said it wasn’t jewelry early on in the ep so I guessed it wasn’t a ring. The compass was cute, and very in character for him. Abby pregnant plays in well with a few themes, including Kovac wanting more kids (isn’t that one of the main reasons he and Sam broke up?) and Abby establishing a real life.

I have no idea what’s going on with John Leguazamo’s character, but it’s fun to watch.

Firing Sally from 3rd Rock wasn’t a big deal, she seemed like a transient character. Her venom on the way out was a nice touch.

The rehabilitation of Morris has been an ongoing process. In the ER with Weaver last week he showed knowledge and tact by not confronting her too directly but advocating for the patient. He’s got chops, and he’s begining to show them, which is about time because up to now he was a charicature.

I still am up in the air about Neela and hubby, that seems to have come out of the blue.

How can Abby know she’s pregnant so soon? Didn’t she say to Kovac “these couple of weeks” have been nice?

The compass was a nice gift after Kovac explained its meaning, but it’s still a step or twelve away from the stated commitment that Abby’s looking for.

Have we seen the last of Eve, do you think?

I hope that wasn’t the last of Eve. I liked Kristin Johnson’s character.

Thank god Eve is gone. I seem to be the only one here who couldn’t stand her, though. Maybe the next “must see TV” ER will be she comes back, off her meds and armed to the teeth, and goes postal. If that happens, hopefully Alex buys it. Well, at least hit in the punk bone so that it needs to be removed.

Wasn’t Morris’s “voice” dubbed with Haleh’s voice IRL? There’s no way that was his real voice. I figured that was part of the joke. Everyone else sounded so godawful bad (I thought Ray was in a band, for crying out loud) that she wound up picking someone with a voice exactly like hers.

I never thought there would be a ring, although my wife insisted that’s what it would be. “You should have bet something” she said after the show was over.

John Leguizamo is a great addition. But his girlfriend is a freak! She’s on Rescue Me, and seems to have the psycho-desperate-nympho character down pat. That doesn’t make her any less annoying, though.

And good on Pratt for making those kids see what they did, and making sure they at least knew her name, even if they probably forgot it by the time they left the room.

I’m back on board with this show after not watching for most of this season. That first scene? Where Luka was flirting with Abby? My television burst into flames. At the end when she told him ‘we need to talk’, I thought, if she breaks up with him, I’ll kill her myself. Hottest man on the planet.
That Alex is a freak show. He and Matt from Nip/tuck would make a great couple.

That was Sheila? Cool.

I ike the character. If what she said is true, she had a good reason to leave her cop husband, so she’s desperate but maybe not so psycho.

Great. Now Dr. Clemente will get beat up (or worse) again. :frowning:

Sounded to me like a high male voice, I’m willing to believe that it’s the actor’s real voice. I think a deeper voice would have complemented her’s better, but it was a nice sound.

Ray is in a rock band, not sure if he even sings. That’s a lot different from singing jazzy Christmas standards.

Or is the baby Kovac’s? I don’t remember if there were any earlier flings.

When she said “these last couple of weeks,” I took it to mean the weeks that they’ve been dating for real again. I got the idea that they slept together maybe a couple of months ago, then had the conversation when they decided they should “just be friends,” but couldn’t stay away from each other and in the past few weeks they’ve been dating. I think sometimes this show skips forward quite a bit.

Eve put her in charge, which is why it was so funny that she was the one that fired her. (although I guess the other woman actually did the firing from what I saw).

I am another one that hated Eve. The whole character seemed cartoonish and nasty. I really didn’t expect her to leave and I’m wondering if she’ll be back in one way or another.

Morris’s being able to sing like an angel didn’t really surprise me. It was obvious what was going to happen wasn’t it? Funny, when he started singing I thought it was a horrible lip-synch but it really was him singing!

Abby being pregnant was a shock. I didn’t realize they’d been together long enough to have a positive test? How early could a doctor test herself accurately anyway? Or maybe it’s not his? I was so sure she was going to pull the “let’s just be friends” thing.

And mmm-mmmm Luka! Holymoly he sure is beautiful when he’s smiling!

When he started, Morris was kind of a buffoon; lazy, incompetent and a pothead. Now they’re completely changing his character and I’m not sure it makes sense.

Also, Haleh got fired and rehired and now Eve got fired. Both were concerned about their jobs, but I thought in real life experienced nurses are in short supply and could easily get a better job somewhere else.

Getting rid of Eve, makes it possible for Sam to segue into the Carol Hathaway role. She is awfully young to be in a supervisory position. And she seems a little flaky about it, but people seem to like her and she does have the skills.

She shouldn’t have married Jack McCall or Francis Wolcott however!

That little bow mouth gives him away, doesn’t it?
