Er 3/23

I thought this was quite a good episode. I didn’t even mind the soap opera stuff, because the Ray/Neela stuff has really been done quite subtly and well. Neela’s public speaking was quite funny.
Does anyone know the name of the actress who played the oldest of Morris’s daughters? She looks VERY familiar to me.

I missed some of the beginning scenes when the Turkish girl was brought in…did they mention at that time how her throat had been cut, and since her boyfriend was with her, I assumed he knew what had happened to her. Then in the closing scenes it seemed as though the mother had known all along who had hurt her daughter, but since they weren’t with her when she was brought in, what were the circumstances of the attack? Did they explain any of that when she was being admitted?

What happened to the story line about the guy who wanted to be admitted so he wouldn’t object at his friend’s wedding? Ray said he’d talk to Psych again. And that was it? Psych is already overbooked, do you think they’ll really admit a guy who is too chicken to attend his friend’s wedding?

Kind of…

The boyfriend and the brother got into a scuffle when the brother and the mom first arrived. The brother explained part way through the episode that the boyfriend lived in the “jock” dorm, where a gang rape had taken place. The brother belived that the boyfriend knew that the gang rape was going to go down because he lived in this dorm. It later showed the brother praying constantly. After the girl died, the mom explained to Luka that she knew that the brother had killed the girl in an honor killing because he did not approve of her boyfriend.

I was waiting for someone in the room to yell “Get a Mac!” when the presentation went kaflooey, followed by “Rats have rights!”

Of course, I think the rat-lovers were in the wrong room. If they wanted attention, they shouldn’t be bothering a resident on a surgical rotation and should have gone straight to the keynote sessions.

PS: If Neela’s bump on the head was so recent that she needed to keep an ice pack on it, she really shouldn’t have had that drink.

Interesting that they brought Gold Guy back, just because you normally never see a patient on more than one episode.

I haven’t watched for a few weeks. What happened to Callie Thorne’s character? Did she die?

Morris has children?

He made money by being a sperm doner.
We need spell-check.

To add to Amazingrace’s post:

The boyfriend said he had come by to pick her up and found her stabbed. It bugged me because the same plot was used on Law & Order, with the Moslem brother killing his sister (at his father’s behest) because she was shaming the family.

It was also jarring to see the sympathetic mom played by Shohreh Aghdashloo who had just been an incompetent obnoxious person on Will and Grace just an hour earlier!

Auntie Pam, did you see it when she woke up a couple of weeks ago? She recognized Vic but didn’t seem to remember who had shot her. I missed last week though, and the nbc.com synopsis doesn’t mention anything further.

Yeah, this part bugged me. One of the kids tracked down his sperm donor ID number and found the three other kids through hacking in. The oldest stole her mom’s car to bring them all to the ER to meet Archibald Morris. What bugged me is his enthusiasm about it. I know he is desperate to be important to someone, but it’s confusing to kids to act like a dad all of the sudden.

Oh good. She’s not dead. Thank you.

Did they mention where the hell Behrooooooz has been? </24 reference>

What’s a good site for getting ER recaps? I like the show, but not quite enough to make it a point to watch. TWoP has given up on it. NBC’s apparently lacking.

SUGGESTION:
"sperm doner" -> sperm donair
