I never said that transgendered folks decide upon a sex change on a whim… where did you get that? I definitely already know better, thanks, and I certainly never gave that impression. The fact is, we don’t know what Weaver’s doing or why she’s doing it – we haven’t been privy to much of her decision-making at all, during the whole series, regarding anything. Part of her character is that she’s very distant. She may have spent months thinking about whatever she’s doing, but we haven’t been shown any of that.
And I suppose people (especially career-minded people like her) just decide to have a child on a whim? Please. Don’t insult my intelligence by assuming my reasoning for me.
I’ll say it again… it’s just a theory. I am by no means assuming it is correct, but nor is it completely invalid. And hell, it’s a TV show. Even the writers may not have decided what she’s doing yet. You’d be surprised how often that happens.
About Kerry’s shots…if you read the TV Guide blurb for next week it says The full page ad reads " A Doctor’s moment of truth. A missing loved one. A surprise pregnacy" and the episode write up starts off with " Kerry starts spreading her good news…" Which makes it sound like she’s the one pregnant.
I don’t like Luka being a dick. I admire Abby for just telling him he sucked after the nazi remark, since I might have slapped him if I were in her postion.
I wonder about where they’re headed with Corday and Romano, it seems like he’s trying to get his nerve up again…
So, does anyone know what a “mandrake smoothie” is? I think that’s what they said “Mr. Hard-on” drank, and it belonged to his daughter. To me, a smoothie is a thing something like a milkshake, so drinking it probably wouldn’t cause you to become insane and horny. If it wasn’t meant to be drank, what was it?
Since mandrake root is supposedly very bitter in raw form, I assume that it was maybe mixed with something sweet to make it go down easier? “A spoonful of sugar…” and all that. Or maybe it was meant as a “roofie” (sp?) sort of thing?
“ER” has been getting soap opera-like, but that a little sensational.
Hormone therapy is fairly common for artificial insemination procedures (it’s expensive so you want to be ultra-fertile in hopes that you get pregnant on the first try.) So yeah, lesbian couples who are going the route of in vitro tend to go through hormone therapy.
I was under the impression that Laura Innes (a.k.a. Dr. Kerry Weaver) is pregnant and they are incorporating it into the show rather than trying to disguise it.
ER’s recent sensationalism is one of the reasons why I think (or thought) gender change is a possibility. A gender change is a sensationalist plot complication… so is showing a doctor’s arm getting lopped off in a rotor blade. I wouldn’t be too surprised if they “pushed the limits” for Weaver too.
My wife and I had to go through all sorts of fertility treatments after she had two miscarriages. I’m well aware of the uses of hormones for pregnancy. I just find it hard to believe that a medical professional would be so secretive about something that’s relatively commonplace. She can’t think that she’s still “in the closet,” can she? And does that even matter? I just don’t get why she’s trying to hide it.
Anyway, this is somewhat moot, now. I wasn’t aware of what you said in your spoiler, but if it is true (and I have no reason to think that it isn’t) then Weaver being pregnant certainly becomes much more likely.
