Um, Chuny and Luka slept together? SINCE WHEN???
I never heard about that? Or was it the season opener?

LUKA AND CARTER ARE HOT!!!
I was under the impression that Luka’s been sleeping around with a lot of the nursing staff. I don’t think they ever showed his liaison with Chuny, though.
And, yes, Luka is quite attractive, but he’s really pissing me off this season.
The Nazi nurse comment - Pure evil.
And yes, Luka’s been making his rounds with the nursing staff since the beginning of the season.
Paul McCrane was pure gold this evening.
For next weeks ep, for those who didn’t watch the previews Argghhh, Deb and what’s his name are hooking up next ep. Too predictable, blech.
I hope they don’t attempt a romantic liason between Lizzie and Romano. He had a lot of good scenes this week. Interesting role by Don Cheedle.
Lordy, Abby looked good in that outfit.
I love Luka, but am not too fond of the way they suddenly turned him into a huge womanizer/jerk type.
Definitely. When he first came on, he was moody, sensitive and dark-and now he’s becoming another Doug Ross in reverse.
I think he’s probably pissed about Abby, but come on! There’s so much more to play out-the way he fell in love with Carol, and she left, and then coming to terms with his family being killed.
He has so much more potential than just a love 'em and leave 'em type.
Unless he’s trying to make Abby jealous, or something. I dunno.
I seem to be in the minority… I like the change in Luka’s character. It’s gets away from the ‘good-looking guy = nice guy’ stereotype that’s been prevalent on the show since Doug Ross. Some nice guys realize they can sleep around… now that Luka’s over his wife’s death, it seems he’s taking advatage of the easy prey. I’m interested to see what happens when he gets sued, which sounds like it might be starting next episode.
Last night’s Halloween episode was only OK, really. It had a couple high points, and yeah, Abby looked great. I’m not even into the whole “nurse” thing, and she still looked great. The perpetual hard-on guy was a funny touch, but seemed kind of thrown in for shock value. The Don Cheadle character could be interesting. I love how he played it; he didn’t overplay the shakes at all.
It was sort of a flat episode overall, but the Tracy Chapman song at the end was a very nice touch, and left me with a good feeling.
Who else thinks Carrie is taking hormones for a future sex change? I’ve thought that since the episode two weeks ago, and it was strengthened last night.
My mother was a nurse, and for 40 years she wore a very similar uniform (high collar, not open collar) complete with heels, which was part of the uniform until hospital administrators came to their senses.
I have been trying to wash my eyes out for the last 18 hours.
Hrmm, I thought Carrie might be trying to have a baby. I’m not sure but don’t some fertility methods require hormone shots?
At the end of the episode I thought Corday had fallen asleep and ended up out in Milwaukee or something.
Indeed they do… and I think that’s what they want you to think. However, maybe it’s just me, but I have a hard time imagining Carrie wanting a baby. She’s been fighting with her sexual identity so much, a sex change might be in line for her. I’m not sure, of course, but that’s my guess.
Eh? I am assuming here that then when you say Carrie you mean Kerry as in Weaver?
Maybe we are madly far behind in ER (Mark died last week), but last I checked (Monday night 21.00) she was just plain old gay in which case a baby is much more likely than a sex change?
Or have I been whooshed?
Um, Kerry is gay, she is not transgendered. There is a big difference.
I mean, just because she’s gay doesn’t mean she’d want a sex change! Sheesh! You don’t just decide to have a sex change!
But it seems to be she’s suffering menopause. The hot flashes, mood swings, etc.
Well, hormone shots can help a older (ie 35+) woman conceive, can’t they? A pregancy arc is not impossible, but I personally got enough of that crap in the later seasons of Murphy Brown. A menopause angle would be a change of pace.
And Maura Tierney, who I thought was damn hot in News Radio, reconfirmed her hottitude in the uniform.
I think pregnancy is more likely, or anything but a sex change. It seems that she had a hard time being comfortable enough to come out, I don’t think she’d suddenly jump into a sex change. I think they would have played that up a lot more.
I don’t understand the change in Luka. He was the sympathetic widower, the man who was virgin until his wedding night, with an adorable accent.
Now he’s a prick. What the hell is up with that?
I have to admire the med student with Parkinson’s, but really, who is he kidding? He can’t be up to the job. I’m afraid the staff will go easy on him, when they need to be as hard as possible to weed out the inferior care givers. His heart’s in the right place, and I admire his courage, but I’m afraid he’s setting himself up for a big fall.
I don’t want to know how they faked (please tell me they did) the perpetual erection. And what is Mandrake juice?
The dying baby was horrible. I kept thinking something had gone wrong since a midwife delivered it, but turned out it was just a tragic happenstance.
I’ve seen creepier Halloween episodes. I give it a B-.
It’s just a theory… sheesh, indeed! I just think the pregnancy angle is a bit too obvious for “ER.” I’ll be disappointed if that’s all it is.
Menopause is a possibility, but Weaver’s a bit young for that, and as far as I know nobody takes drug therapy for menopause (could be wrong on that, I’ve just never heard of it). If it’s just menopause, then what was Weaver injecting herself with? And if it’s fertility hormones, why is she being so secretive?
Anyway, I still suspect a gender change… but it’s just a theory. We’ll see how it plays out. We’re probably all wrong! laughs
And *ivylass, Mandrake root is a fairly potent aphrodisiac. Sort of an herbal Viagra. Seems a little implausible that some could O.D. on it like that, since it has some other nasty effects at high doses (vomiting, diarrhea). But like I said earlier, that whole thing seemed just thrown in for shock value. The “tentpole effect” was pretty surprising though!
I like the Don Cheadle character. I don’t see him being unable to be a good doctor. He won’t go into surgery, but a general practitioner could function with some shakes.
I don’t like Luka. I never liked him or now I hate him. And Carter’s lame.
The only real characters to me are Corday and Meikah Pfeifer’s character. All the others are just background noise to me. I do feel for Romano though. His comment about people not liking him but it being alright because he was a good surgeon was poignant.
Also, isn’t Ella just a little too young to have fun with Halloween?
The only reason I say a gender reassignment is probably unlikely is that most people don’t just decide it on a whim. Ask around here-we have some transgendered posters who would probably be more than happy to answer.
And yes, indeed hormones can be treatments for menopause. However, was she taking hormones-or could she be lying about something?
Kerry is in her forties, I believe-not too young for menopause.
That was exactly the scene that I foresaw the moment his arm hit the rotor blade. I did not foresee the attempted hook-up with Corday, and I’d just as soon never see it again.
Let’s see: Chuny slept with Greene, which was awkward, but they worked it out. Luka slept with Abbie, which is still awkward, but they’re working it out. Suddenly, Luka sleeps with Chuny (off camera) and he can’t figure out how to make it work. It’s almost as though he’s being forced into a sexual harassment plotline!
Speaking of hook-ups, whatever happened to the cardiologist’s crush on Susan, back when she saved his life, oh, 7 or 8 years ago? Is he just a standard jerk authority figure again?
I wonder what his goal is - to become a general practitioner, to become a research MD (the word for that has totally escaped me), what? I’d like to know.
I used to like Luka - now he’s become a constant jerk. Even to his patients, he’s an ass. Doug was at least charming, and completely for his patients, while he was a jerk in his personal life. Also can’t stand Mekhi Phifer’s character…the character’s yet to do anything that isn’t at the very least annoying, if not worse.
I think it’s a baby story with Kerry.
Episode overall? They’ve done better halloweens.
