Erfworld: Book 2 discussion (spoilers)

New Erf comic

Technically, a cliffhanger, although it’s obvious what’ll follow next.

Parson was way more aggressive in his plan than I’d expected.

edit: also, it looks like scarlet & blue and scarlet & gray/black are the same color schemes.

I wonder why Wanda didn’t Decrypt her mount after it passed through into the next zone?

It passes through into the next zone at the moment it hits the ground, which is also the moment at which Wanda takes fall damage. And we’re still not certain dwagons are decryptable: I think all of the decrypted we’ve seen have been language-using units. And even if normal dwagons are, these are Hammered dwagons. After the decryption, which Tool would they be bound to?

Why doesn’t it pass into a new zone the moment it breaks the plane of the erstwhile Atrium roof?

The issue of possibly being bound to more than one tool is one I hadn’t considered. But were the Archons bound to the Arkendish? And wasn’t it part of Parson’s plan to decrypt the croaked dwagons in the first place? ISTM that most of the speaking units on GK’s side are already Decrypted, and will just be dusted if they croak upon landfall.

Wanda’s going to get a pretty damned big army, that’s what. If Archons can be decrypted, then I don’t see why Dwagons can’t.

I’m guessing that at some point, Wanda becomes her own side. How come she gets her own livery when she’s supposed to be under GK?

The boundary between the airspace and garrison zones is the ground

And as an aside, erfworld.com’s archive organization is a royal mess. Even though the comics and text updates generally alternate, there’s no way to go to the previous or next installment, just the previous or next one of the same type. And even within a given type, you can’t view a listing of all of the entries. Which made it really hard to find that strip.

And what of Jack? Instead of Jack Snipe he could soon be Jack Splat, and a decrypted Jack beholden to Wanda would be very interesting indeed…

Okay, thanks.

I hope Wanda’s gonna be okay.

She has to be, or it’s game over.

I must say, I would have preferred a strategy that any side could have used. The reliance of this plan on the Pliers is somehow less satisfying to me.

Have they shown how a food fight works before? I remember dance fighting, but not food fighting.

The food fight is probably not a Game Rules term like “dance fight” is. It’s just a joke Parson coined to signify that he’s turned his dwagons into rations (i.e., food)… and now they’re going to attack Jetstone with them.

His food is gonna fight.

End of last Book (not gonna delve into the archives to find), Wanda noted that the Arkenpliers allow her to decrypt units that never could be uncroaked before – and her example was decrypting a wienerammer, which would be a non-language-using mount unit. So she can probably decrypt dwagons.

And she’s already decrypted Archons that were apparently Arkendish-bound units, and those Archons are now Arkenpliers-bound.

They’re giving us background to the rules of engagement that Parson is going to be using, but I can’t predict what he’s actually going to do. I suspect something fiendishly clever that I haven’t even considered.

Oh, and I’ll bet you 10 schmuckers that there ARE rules for food fighting.

The plot thickens…

Text update

I’m thinking Wanda is dead and Jack is telling his story to the captors.

I’m thinking you are wrong.

Please elaborate. Why do you think that?

It’s… the worst possible thing that could happen right now. Also, I confused Duke Antium and Jack’s text pieces.

Parson told Sizemore they wouldn’t have to go into the Magic Kingdom if Wanda was dead. Marie the predictamancer just told Janis that Parson was coming to the Magic Kingdom.

Ergo, Wanda survived the fall.

Wow…so Janis and Marie rigged the spell to get a “perfect warlord” for their purposes, not (necessarily) Stanley’s. Wheels within wheels…

And that’s why Wanda has her own livery!

OMG.
