ERG! Where do I buy these things in Busan, Korea?

Well, here I am, living in Yangsan, not too far from Busan in Korea.

I have all the neccesities down – heck, I even know where to get clothes for those of “larger stature” (the nice way of saying “North American fatasses!” )

Right now, I’m just trying to find a digital camera. The selection that I have found is awful! They have only the absolute most expensive, and maybe four different models in one store.

What I want is just a ‘snapshot’ camera, with USB capabilities. I don’t really need more than, say, 2 megapixels. This should not cost a fortune, I would think, and certainly not 400,000 won, which is the best one I’ve seen so far.

I suspect I want to look around Samyeon or PNU, but if any dopers who live in / know Busan well can give me a better idea (maybe some directions, too!), that would be great.

It’s so frustrating always having to ask my boss or recruiter to help me find everything, and I don’t yet have any Korean friends who can help me with these things. My command of Korean still… um, what’s the proper way to put it, … “sucks donkey schlong”. Yeah, that about sums it up!

Oh, I should also ask if anyone knows of a good online shopping place (in English!!!) for electronics that delivers to South Korea.

Thanks!

Well, you might try coming to Seoul… there are 2 HUGE electronics markets up here… but I think you’ll find the same thing. Very little selection (compared to the US anyways), everything absolutely this year’s model, and all of it the most expensive models/brands. That’s just life here.

I would order the camera you want online. I haven’t purchased any electronics online, but you should be able to find one that will ship overseas… if not, you could maybe have it shipped to a family member, and have them forward it to Korea (I’ve had to do that with shoes… not a big demand for size 16 here!).

Oh, BTW, I just checked and Amazon DOES have electronics. And I know for a fact that they deliver overseas… I have singly-handedly kept Amazon from bankruptcy.

Good luck!

Oh, and if you ever make it up to Seoul, drop me an e-mail!
