Error message when trying to use credit card

I’m getting a “cannot find server”/“the page cannot be displayed” mesage when I click on the credit card payment button.

Hours later, still getting an error message.

Now it’s the next day, with no reply here, nor from the webmaster. Come on, guys, at least let me know what’s going on!

Shoshana…I was in the same situation as you, using Netscape as my browser. I tried IE and it worked. Worth a try. :confused:

Shoshana, what browser/OS are you using ? There are others reporting similar problems as yours.

Try with another browser or PC if possible. That should fix your problem.

Also, try deleting your cache / temp files / cookies. See if that helps.

More than likely a problem with your setup. When you click the credit card button, you leave the regular SDMB site and enter a secure site. If you’re using IE, click tools -> internet options -> advanced, scroll down towards the bottom and make sure “Use SSL 2.0” and “Use SSL 3.0” are checked. If they are, you may be running a firewall or be behind a proxy which is blocking port 443, in which case you’ll need to either have a play around, or see your network admin.

Thanks for the ideas. I’ve never had any problem with my credit card on any Internet purchase. I’m on CompuServe, which is free of many of AOL’s glitches.

I was able to make my payment using a different computer (with better firewalls, FWIW).
