“You are so playing right field!”
Every week, this show keeps getting better and better. I want Jo’s knives.
“Sheriff, I’m going to need more than the munchies.”

Agreed. I so wanted to like this show. The premise is genius (pun intended). However, I was a bit underwhelmed by the first couple of episodes. Great premise - uneven execution.
But this one was solid. I liked it a lot. The show seems to be reaching its stride. The Sci-Fi needs more quality original programming, and this one has a lot of potential. Here’s hoping it keeps getting better.
Stark is also developing nicely. I’m glad they are adding layers to him, instead of just leaving him the generic heavy. Now he’s starting to seem like a real person, albeit a very smart one with questionable motives.
“You just happened to be out in cammies with night-vision goggles?”
“Yes.”
“Nice.”
“Why does this manniquin look like me?” asks the sheriff.
“It’s generic,” says Henry the super-mechanic.
<snerk>
I enjoyed this episode more than most of the others, and I’m not really sure why. Henry just keeps getting better and better- man, is there anything that guy can’t/doesn’t do? Also, I really liked the baseball-to-the-head scene… it was just beautiful.
However, I think they’re showing the episodes out of order. I could swear that Zoe’s mentioned being in school in Eureka before… but this seemed like her first day or so at school. Also, wouldn’t we have heard about the weekly meetings before? I think this is supposed to be the third episode (or second, if you don’t count the original pilot as being the first episode).
Zoe has been in school before. She was in a school play a few episodes ago. You may be on to something with the “out of order” observation. Although Stark seemed mellower this episode than he has in the past.
I liked the “light saber” bats. Tres kewl.
I didn’t get the ball game at the end. What advantage does a virtual ball and bat have? All the spectators were cheering, but none of them were wearing virtual reality visors.
The spectators were all watching on their tiny little Monday Minute view screens.
I like the show…which means it will probably get cancelled.
A check of SciFi Channel’s webpage confirms Lightnin’s hypothesis. This was Episode 103. So far, the episode order has been:
101 Pilot
102 Many Happy Returns
106 Before I Forget
104 Alienated
108 Invincible
105 Dr. Nobel
103 Blink
Next week is 107 Right As Raynes
On the one hand, I’m quite pleased with myself for guessing correctly as to the episode’s position in the lineup. However…
Running a sequential series out of order is generally the fastest way to kill a series. Witness Firefly, for example… and there are a lot of other examples. I suspect Eureka isn’t long for this world.
Rumors other places have it as a shoe-in for renewal, since it’s the highest rated original series SciFi has. So far, out of order presentation hasn’t hurt it. They may have just had post-production problems with an episode, or had the script come back from re-write late. It looks like we’ll get semi-back on track next week.
Damn, I’m so out of practice remembering to watch a show at a certain time that I forgot about it last night! And I really do like Eureka. I wish there was a repeat of the episode before next week, but I didn’t see one. Grrrrr.
8/31 10pm
Then they skip a week, and we get a new episode (Primal) on 9/12.
