Eureka 9/5

An out-of-order episode, and one that seems to conflict with What Has Gone Before. Since when did Zoe arrive by bus? Did I miss something? How did Raynes cause the fire at the boarding house? Why were there LEDs in his eyes?

On the up side, Ethan got about 5 more layers, and the Allison/Jack interaction at the fence was hysterical. The previews seems to indicate that we are back on track with the next episode, which features the procedure Fargo was demonstrating to the video conference.

“Why is it all the good guys are either married, gay, or robots?”

For those looking to catch up, there is an Eureka marathon on SciFi today. I believe it starts at 5:00 pm

Zoe arrived by bus in the second episode… remember, the pilot ended with Carter back in his office in LA and Zoe (presumably) at home with ma… Carter was promoted/moved to Eureka… and Zoe followed…

First really disappointing episode of the series. It felt like they wanted a two- or three-parter, that then got chopped down to one. Whatever the story, don’t let it happen again, guys.

Ah. You are right. I had forgotten that. Now I feel better about the writing.

I still want to know why it started snowing in the restaurant.

Finally got to watch it on DVR just now so I had been avoiding this thread.
Magnetic fence? Too funny! And the realization of the effects of fishing around in her pocket and the awkward moments that followed were great.
Stark’s add dimension gives me hop for his character even more than before.
I think the intro of the “young guy” (forget the name) was too fast from intro to written out. That would have been better if we had a chance to develop some of the feelings shown by others.
5 PM Tonight, ya say?! Thanks. I didn’t know and my machine wrote over the pilot episode. May be I can correct this flaw.
What is unstated here though is to what degree Joe’s relationship with the guy was, how far did it go, and did she break her hand on his cheek.

Love this show.

A while ago in the weekly thread I said that the relationship between Carter and Zoe was cartoonish, but I take it back. This ep added several layers of depth to the show. Stark’s emotional involvement, the daddy-daughter relationship, the sexual tension between Carter and [what’s her name], it’s all getting very interesting.

I’ve given up on the science. It’s not even stupid, it’s just part of the backdrop. If I could live with 254 episodes of vampires and demons in the Buffyverse, I can let snow from the a/c slide, even though it’s stupid on a whole new level. Seeing the Gay-Hurley-look-alike shoveling snow indoors is worth it.

Have to agree with this being a really disappointing episode. The “guy is really a robot” story has been done just too many times. Seemed too much like a Twilight Zone episode. And once more, it gets us into the territory of Eureka’s technology just being * too * advanced.

The anti-gravity cherry picker was just dumb. The town’s technology is supposed to be highly classified, yet apparently anyone can just wander into town and see this high tech marvel being used when a standard everyday lift would have made much more sense.

At least Rayne wasn’t psychic, which is what I was afraid of at the start. It had that “Firestarter/Scanners/Carrie” vibe going on. What they need to do is focus on the day-to-day differences between Eureka and the rest of the world. Small things that add up. Maybe a day-in-the-life of the dishwasher at the restaurant.

Greenwalt should call Jane Espenson and see if she wants a staff job.

I’m looking forward to tonight’s episode. The more Stark, the better.

Anyone starting a thread for tonight’s ep? I daren’t. My TV threads usually drop with an audible thunk.

I’ll start it.
