EuroDopers, I need your help!

Especially if you like to inline skate.

I’ll be visiting Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Berlin next month to take part in their big city skates. And I’m coming with a big, boisterous group of American skaters as we take on the Continent.

We’ll be in A’Dam Aug 9-11, Frankfurt Aug 12-14, and Berlin Aug 15-18.

Anyone who likes to skate is invited to the big night skates (I’ll post the dates/times/meeting place later if there’s interest), but for now I would like your recommendations…are there any concerts/festivals/art shows/etc. I shouldn’t miss while I’m there?

Also restaurants, bars, and so on.

Thanks in advance, and see you around the boards!

7 days and counting, and I still need your help…

Well, here’s a good set of routes for Amsterdam. I’ve tried most of them, and they’re pretty good.

Frankfurt used to have a Tuesday night skate that was massive, but it was a few years ago that I went on it, and I couldn’t find details on the web. If it’s still going, you should be able to find info on it quite easily over there - there must literally have been over a thousand people on it, so I can’t imagine it’ll have died out yet.

Haven’t skated in Berlin, so can’t help you there. I’ve emailed a skater friend of mine who used to live there, so hope to get some info for you on that soon.

Unfortunately, it’s all in Dutch. Anyways, they gather at 20:00 hours on friday at the round bench opposite the Film Museum just inside the Vondelpark (take the entrance on the Van Baerlestraat).

I’m not a skater myself. I have on occasion just avoided a bunch of those lunatics with my car.

There’s always plenty to do in Amsterdam. When you’re around, the anual theater festival De Parade is in full swing. It’s mostly Dutch, but just walking over the festival grounds and having a beer is a lot of fun. It’s held in the Martin Luther King park. You take tram 25 from downtown, and get off at the very last stop. The park’s diagonally on the other side of the intersection you see. Incidently, this is 200 yards from Casa Coldie, too.

I’ll leave you with a few links.
