Actually only 2% of schools have uniforms in America, and those are all city schools that only implemented them temporary due to gang colors. Most states don’t have any public schools with uniforms, such as my state.

My nieces & nephew go to the same rural public middle & high schools that I did and they were uniforms. The uniform consists of a polo shirt (long or short sleeve) in school colors and khaki pants (I think the girls have the option of a skirt). The policy had nothing to do with gangs; the school board finally got tired of having staff spend time deciding if a given article of clothing was to revealing, the design or logo was inappropriate or offensive, and dealing with parents who disagreed. My ex-SiL is in the PTA and was one of the parents who fought against it, but now loves it. The entire school board was reelected by the way (granted that usually happenes unless someone retires).

Oh, and school uniforms are pretty much unheard of in Europe outside of the UK & Ireland (where they’re ubiquitous). Even private schools seldom have. In Germany (according to the German exchange students I was friends with) even dress codes are nonexistant in state schools beyond basic rules of decency and safe regulations in certain classes (ie no sandals in chemistry or long flowing hair in shop class).

The Euro has failed. They have banned guns in most countries. They have socialist “universal” healthcare, they have driven away almost all major corporations, they have created an unfriendly market for the private sector, their economy is tanking worse than America, many of the EU countries no longer have functional governments (Belgium, Italy, etc.), the Muslims are starting to take over Europe (they even have Sharia Courts now), they have school uniforms in some of their public schools, their government funded higher education system is of absolute shit quality, they have to pay higher taxes, and they lack proper freedom of speech.

And that’s just scratching the surface. By all means, please add to the list.

There’s nothing wrong with having universal healthcare. However, it tends to work better when you have a relatively homogenous population with high trust levels. Scandanavian countries are an example:

I belong to the people who believe that Scandinavia, like Japan, is a cultural outlier. Scandinavians score unbelievably high on things such as work ethic, trustworthiness and cooperation. This interpretation of causality is different: Scandinavians has a large welfare state because they are homogeneous and culturally unique. When other countries (say, southern Europe) copy Nordic policies, the results tend to be worse, because the population is different.

As places like Sweden import more people who don’t share their values, their welfare state may come under threat:

• Lastly, the immigrants don’t have Lutheran work ethics and strong social pressure not to abuse the welfare state like the Scandinavians. In relation to the EU, they have created a rod for their own backs with the power of European Courts to make it difficult to deport criminals or economic asylum seekers. As the African population increases, it will be increasingly difficult for them to turn away the growing influx. This is something Israel is facing too.

Ethnic minorities currently experience higher growth rates than the majority Han population, because they are not under the one-child policy. Their proportion of the population in China has grown from 6.1% in 1953, to 8.04% in 1990, 8.41% in 2000 and 9.44% in 2005.

There are now barely ~1.3 billion Han Chinese left!
