European Cup Final 2019.

Missed making this thread early on.
Salah scored on a penalty 2 mins in.
Neither side has had a prayer since.
30 mins.

Half time. The game is not really creating many chances, despite a plethora of corners,
I think the penalty was harsh.
Would not be surprised if it ends 1-0. Stupid of Spurs to play Kane, who has been absent, then Moura.

Game is unexciting. Hope it picks up 2nd half.

If a player is defending in their penalty box and their arm is in an unnatural position, then they are always liable to concede a penalty if the ball hits their arm. Sissoko’s arm was way up in the air for some reason, and he also moves his arm towards the ball after the opposing player kicks the ball, so it was poor defending in my opinion.

Maybe bring on Moura or Llorente. Kane is useless and Van Dyk has been on him all evening.

As I type, Liverpool makes an attack which causes Lloris to make a save.

Moura was at times very effective against Ajax.

Can’t help but think Liverpool-Ajax or Spurs-Barca might’ve been a much more exciting game.

Probably. Barca is incapable of a tight defensive game and Ajax isn’t interested in trying to do so.

The play in the box has been abysmal. The midfield is stifling attack before they reach the box. 2-3 chances all evening.
Both teams are playing a passing game. The attacks are telegraphed and the defences can read them easily.
No counter attack hits. Maybe try long balls to CF. Cause at this rate, no fucking goals are likely.

Prescient photo that Sissoko posted from training yesterday.

I bit more action in the last 5. Tottenham with 2-3 alright chances.

Ok thats it. Origri has probably won it.

Sissoko is probably happy Origi scored.

A poor final, perhaps expectations were too high given that they were both involved in some of the best semi’s ever but hey ho. Chris Waddle mentioned today that it was arguably Liverpool’s worst performance of the year.
They both looked like they’d forgotten how to play, it was weird and disappointing for us neutrals but I’m sure Liverpool won’t be complaining.

Starting Kane over Moura proved to be the wrong move, but understand why Pochettino did it- you saw how bad the play was with everyone with three weeks off, and Kane had even more. Should have started Moura, brought on Kane as a sub- they have been doing quite well of late with Son and Moura sans Kane.

Hate the early penalty call, even though perhaps the right call. FIFA needs to tweak the rules to maybe have an indirect free kick for in the box fouls that weren’t going to lead to anything close to a chance on goal.

If a keeper has a free kick in the box, all other players are on the other end ninety yards away except another defender in the box, who raises his arms for the fans to cheer, and the free kick hits his arm- ridiculously, thats a penalty.

Glad for the second goal, would have hated it to be 1-0 on that penalty.

Very happy for Klopp, he deserves it.
