European Cup Final

I refuse to call it Champions League, since it involves few actual champions and no actual league.

In any case, AC Milan beat Liverpiddle 2-1. I think that’s just  .

T’was a great result  . I’m involved in a couple of black-bile filled threads on another board with the usual southern fairies who claim ‘support’ of Liverpool, so its best if I just leave it at that.

The true koppites won’t have too many complaints. Even they couldn’t expect to catch lightening in a bottle for a second time after Istanbul. They got another trip to the European cup final, Milan never ran away with it, and deep down they know that they’re at least a few class players off of being a great side.

The funny thing about the game was that Liverpool had their chances early, and should have managed a goal in the first 25 min. After that, AC Milan simply started taking the game over, and Liverpool never seemed to know how to regain the initiative.

Pretty sterile affair for most of the last 60 min., other than the one moment of Inzaghi glory, in which he rightly punished the trap. I get so damn sick and tired of watching fullbacks stop running and look for the assisstant’s flag that it is great to see the tactic punished.

Fairly poor display of European football. Neither of these teams are the best in Europe by a long-shot. Milan benefitted from a United who were still locked in a fight for the Premiership and Liverpool…well Liverpool are just muck.

Liverpool had much the better of the first half, I thought, but the goal deflated them and they weren’t creative enough to bounce back. Incidentally, did anyone else think that Milan’s first goal came of Inzaghi’s arm? I meant to look at it again during half-time, but I was channel-hopping and missed the studio analysis. I guess it would be a very harsh decision to call it a handball in any case, given it wasn’t intentional and his arm was next to his body.

It definitely came in off the upper arm. But, since it wasn’t deliberately handled, it was not a foul.
