I have been a bit out of the loop the last few weeks as regards EVE so have not kept abreast of the political situations and especially Goons v. BoB (or rather Alliance formerly known as BoB).
I have no dog in this race one way or another. Just curious and frankly reading CoAD on the EVE forum is near useless to pry out what is going on (hurts my head to even look in that particular forum).
Well, I’ve let my account lapse, but I occasionally check the Dotlan maps and skim over things on SHC. Coalition forces (mostly KIA and Morsus Mihi) took out the various Kenny allies in Period Basis, including EXE’s sov 4 constellation. Kenny have two stations in Querious and appear to be gaining sov in various parts of that region in non-station systems. I presume they’re trying to retake the R64 moons there to rebuild a little alliance income. They appear to be making slowish progress. At the rate they’re taking station systems they should have the Goons kicked out of Delve some time in 2017.
Kenny is, effectively, an AAA vassal state. They can do nothing without them. They’ve also been pushed back out of I1Y losing billions in towers. Skunk-Works has announced that they’re effectively pulling towers out of the region and A-5F will probably have fallen by the time you read this. EXE has been purged from the west as a space holding entity.
Kenny lost a few R64’s that they’d managed to take back, and AAA lost a few as well while PL drew them out of the fight for I1Y. AAA and pets have been contesting sov largely by POS spam and have been mildly successful.
And no, MM and KIA did some of the initial grunt work in H74 and environs to set things up to be toppled, but it wasn’t their titans that broke the back of the counter offensive, and it was a joint fleet that purged the region when H74 fell.
We very nearly double DD’d their stragglers as they were retreating, too… but some communications problems had our titans out of position when the bubbles were dropped.
Interesting factoid: after the double DD smashed the majority of their fleet, the stragglers actually began shooting each other over claims to the loot in the wrecks on the gate.
Heh. We kicked ass in H74, again. Molle declared a two-week-long push and then someone forgot to stront BoB’s towers and ROL didn’t even get a chance to online theirs.
By the way, I’d update a bit more but I’m putting it all into a cohesive whole for the next E-ON issue. Probably a pretty handy resource to pick up if you want a good overview of this quarter’s fighting.
Eh… Goons on their own definitely won’t hold Querious, and probably not Delve either. Goons with their allies will, as of present, almost definitely hold Querious with Delve not even really coming into play.
BoB, as a fighting force, are pretty much an even match for Goons at this point. It’s the Russian bloc that shakes things up. But so far we haven’t seen them at their peak, fall of 49- style numbers.
Another update: one of Kenny’s two remaining station systems, 3BK, has all but fallen. We put something like 30 towers into reinforced mode yesterday and they’re coming out pretty much entirely in US Prime, 17-18 hours from now. Most of the towers had no mods on them, and we’ve had reports of GKC forces unanchoring and moving their towers out of other systems.
Unless GKC has some sort of miracle, they’re going to lose 3BK and then 49- soon after. Their FC’s have already been posting on their forums talking about how they’ve pretty much lost and they’ll have to come back and kick Goons out later.
No news in specific as I haven’t been up north for a long while, but my general understanding is that IRON’s been fighting against some folks, IRON sucks as usual, IRON’s been taking heavy morale damage, IRON’s going to fuck things up yet again and dissolve and hen probably reform as an even more annoying entity.
And 3BK has fallen. I accidentally let my main’s subscription expire last night and I’m going out of town for a few days so I can’t update right now about 49-, but 3BK is now Goons’ and it sure looks like Kenny is withdrawing to redeploy in another region and that there’s going to be an invasion of Period Basis by several of the Romanian alliances in the next few days.
0.0 Null Sec has systems that are named by codes and even so they are using shorthand like 49- to refer to a hotly contested system. So when they talk about losing ‘49-’ or some other thing that seems like a serial number they are referring to null sec or periphery space. There are three levels, Empire, which is the core of Eve Online settled by the four most powerful factions who rule the Empire, then there is lo-sec where the Imperial Factions still rule but it’s not patrolled by the Imperial police: Concord. Then there is null-sec which is not controlled by anyone until player corps come in and control it. They are talking about the control of player corps over regions. So the serial number looking things are solar systems. Then they might mention a constellation or a region such as Delve and Querious, which are the major regions where fighting is. Regions have dozens of solar systems and several constellations. Stargates connect the solar systems, so there are definite routes, choke points that become strategic connections between two systems.
DD is a Doomsday, basically he’s talking about nuking an entire section of a solar system. A giant Death Star like creature called a Titan has a giant pulse weapon that can kill most anything in its way except for the most insanely tanked battleship or a capital ship.
quibble: DD tanking is standard on most fleet battleship setups these days. Razor battleships are actually totally un-reimbursable unless they’re properly DD tanked. It’s virtually impossible to make a viable fleet sniper that’s double DD tanked, however.
