Even If It Is Christmas We Must Have A MMP!

We’re ordering pizza tonight as Sah-son got a mess of Dominoes gift cards for Christmas.
Gift cards and peanut butter cups. And stock. My mother buys him stock since he never wants anything for Christmas, or his birthday.
His goal is to have enough money so he can live off the interest and never have to irk.
Unless he plans on living in a cardboard box under a bridge he is going to need a lot more money.

I so want to eat one of the peanut butter cups but I’m afraid to.
I didn’t get any chocolates this year :(.

I had the last slice of ham for breakfast, shared with the dog and the cat.
The leftover meatballs with some rice for lunch, shared with the dog.

The dog chewed a hole in the new rug for the bathroom. It was a cheap one, $3, so not a great loss. Cheaper than a lot of toys.
One of favorite toys is an empty juice, soda, or water bottle. It rolls, it slides, it makes crackley noises. I wish I’d known that before I paid for a bunch of toys for him.

Today was the first day since Irma that our recreational RV park opened to eligible patrons. For the first time ever it was reservation required instead of first come/first served as we could not have RV’s blocking the highway. This is a sure sign of things getting back to normal. They are only allowing 20 reservations per day so as not to overwhelm the office staff with whom we share a bldg. In a way I am sad they are coming back. The peace and quiet was priceless. But, progress I guess. Funny they had to drive through the worst hit areas to arrive in KW. That’ll show them. I really have come to know and love some of these repeat customers but some are so damn entitled. SMH. Already on the Facebook page there are comments about the CO allowing us lowly civilians to shop at the commissary and exchange. They earned it and we did not. Blah Blah Blah. I see their point but damn we have been through hell here in the lower Keys.

My money is on the bitching causing our ability to shop there to be taken away.

Hey, you make me want one! They would be great stocking stuffers.
Do you work in sales?

No, but maybe I should.
If I could make money selling empty plastic bottles, I should be able to sell anything.

Happy Gotcha day Ursula!

{{{ruble}} (you did wash your hands before typing didn’t you?)

{{{alien}}} Dementia is a sucky way to end your golden years. My mom had stroke related dementia. It nearly wore my dad out caring for her. Shortly before her passing, plans were in the works to place her in a care facility. Hugs to you and your family.

It’s cooooooold here. I dread having to suit up to take the dog out this evening.

In my 11 years of active duty, I don’t know if I ventured into the commissary 2 dozen times. I couldn’t understand why patrons there had to have 2 and 3 loaded carts at a time when in the real world, shoppers seemed to do just fine with a single cart. I also didn’t think the prices were worth the hassle. Bottom line, I didn’t think it was that much of a bennie.

Oh, yeah, Hi Honeys, I’m home!!! We left Ocala at 4:30AM - 50° and a tad foggy. We arrived home just before 6PM, clear and 27°!!! We have reclaimed the kittehs and ingested the last of the leftover lasagna from the freezer. Time to unwind. There’s no place like home!

{{{Alien}}} wishing the best for you and yours. Helluva a way to end the year.

Does cat-style count?

The OW says I am on the mend since my shitty attitude is showing again.

I did pull a VTO again. I am feeling just weak enough and sleep has been little and spaced out (in more ways than one – thank you Mucinex) that I felt safer that way. Now the question becomes – I have 8 hours/2 days of “use it or lose it” UPT and two days left to the work week. Decisions, decisions.

I believe you know what decision needs to be made.

The stew was marvelous if a bit labor intensive. I made a mongo batch so anyone who needs refuge from the freeze will be well-fed. It paired well with lima beans, a Cabernet Franc, and a crusty baguette.

Now there’s NFL on the telly, wife is casting on yet another knitting project and life is calm.

Shoulda refreshed before posting …

Welcome home!! Hope your parents aren’t busy revising their will after *that *little visit.

Agree commissary stateside was more trouble than it was generally worth. IME the 2- and 3- cart people are retirees who live 200 miles away. They waste more money on gasoline and wear & tear on their car than they save on groceries. But they *earned *it dammit and so they’re gonna use it to their dying day.

When I was stationed where the commissary was oversized and there were few retirees around it was pretty nice. When the situation was the other way around the commissary was useless. I have to believe a lot more DoD members have retired in the last 30 years than they’ve built commissary capacity. It’s gotta be damn near useless nowadays.

I’m baaacckkkk…

Left Sunday to drive to Birmingham (about 100 miles) and flew to Houston and thence to Austin, Texas for a family Xmas. Most of the family was on my brother’s wife’s side of the marriage, but they’re good folk and I enjoyed myself. Got a kindle for Christmas, this I have thought about but never bought and I’m looking forward to trying it out.

Came back today, a slight delay in Houston, but still back in Casa Rat by 4:00pm. Down to 28F now, clear and sunny but cold (Texas wasn’t much better, in the 40’s).

Main goal tomorrow is to move all the info from my 2017 ledger to my Excel archive for historical purposes.

{{{Alien}}}, I was away from town when my dad got bad enough that assisted living was no longer possible, and I am always grateful that he handled it as well as he did. Hope things work out for the best.

Butters, the RV park may be an annoyance, but it is, as you say, getting things back to a normal routine. Step by step… And hopefully your cow-orker will find a second gear–or maybe not, I’ve knew people like that all during my career, they would do fine in first gear, but it was the only gear they ever had.

FCM, welcome home. I thought about driving but decided on flying.

Flyguy, no beef stew, but did have a double Whataburger and my yearly Pecanbon at airports along the way.

Probably turning in early tonight, two flights and two airports plus 100 miles of driving with Ali-bama drivers is a little wearing.

It’s currently 16° out, going down to 11° tonight; forecast high for tomorrow is 23°, with “Wind chill values as low as zero”. I went to the local REI; they’re out of baklava. Hmmm, no Greek pastries & they didn’t have the mini balaclava I wanted either. Only the ‘snout’ part of my face, below the eyebrows to above the lips, & to the cheekbones was cold as I was dressed for it today; but it was [del]cold[/del] freezonious out. PM me an address & I will take you up on that offer. This weather is s’posed to continue for at least another 7 days. Despite really wanting to, I may have to rethink going to [del]peep show[/del] Peepsfest on Sunday. Either way, I have to be back home on Monday to head down South for fun & frolicking in the ocean.
Other than that, staring at the liquor cabinet & trying do decide what to drink, the good stuff or the get drunk stuff? :frowning:
ETA - Why waste the good stuff.

CANES WIN!!!

And it’s 32 now, and gonna get back down to 19 in the A.M.

Welcome back, MetalMouse!

Welcome bacl, Moooommmmm!!!

I am leaning that way at the moment at least for tomorrow; I still really do feel pretty weak and woozy. My fever got into the 102-3 range for a while and that just wiped me out. Plus after a year under Site Gruppenfuhrer Eichmann (ya get the idea he and I don’t see eye to eye a lot?) and having arranged any other illnesses I have had over the last three years to scheduled days off, I feel kinda entitled.
Besides ------- I got enough extra time in over the month to make the checks average out on the positive side.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 43 Amurrkin out and cloudy (actually it’s dark out but TWPTB say cloudy so I’ll believe ‘em) with a predicted high of 48 and cloudy for the day. The rain is gone and sun is promised tomorrow and over the weekend. We shall see. This mornin’ I shall go to the Pubic Sto’ for some staple items and to the burly butcher sto’ where I’ll buy a couple nice tbone steaks for suppage on Sunday. OYKW will be back late this afternoon. He will leave the wilds of West Alabammy around eightish Alabammy time this mornin’ and stop in Monkey Town to visit with a cousin and have N.O.L. with her. When he gets close he will call and I’ll order up some majik intartoobz pizza. We want pizza to sup upon tonight. Other than that, who knows what the day will hold.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Purtification should ensue bein’ as I will venture out in the public at some point this mornin’. Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Higgs started barking like an idiot at 4:40, so I’m up. I think **FCD **forgot to let her out for one last pee last night, and her little bladder was full. She didn’t eat or drink all day yesterday till we got home, then she lapped up a coupla gallons… or so it seemed. Dunno why she refused water along the way.

Anyway, she’s been tended to, the dishwasher has been emptied and refilled (we’d left a few dirties on the counter, plus there were last night’s dishes) and I’ve just finished getting caught up on the comics I missed while we were gone. I slept pretty well - no backache from the bed!

It was 15° when I let Higgs out, and it’s dropped since then. Today’s high is supposed to reach 25° and tomorrow, it *might *get above freezing!! The next ten days will be, shall we say… brisk. brrrrrrrrrrrrr

As we were driving home yesterday, it occurred to me that going to FL when the grandbaby shows up is going to be a challenge. Unless **FCD **has a break in his business, I’ll have to go alone. I kept dozing off on this trip when he was driving, and I had to stop and turn the car over to him a few times when I was fighting the sleepies.

Anybody wanna make a spontaneous trip with me sometime in April, based on the capricious arrival of a newborn??? I’d consider flying, but it’d have to be a last-minute ticket, which would cost a small fortune. Plus I’ll have to get a hotel since I don’t intend to sleep on their couch. I’ve got some details to iron out.

Gotta purge the fridge today and run to Food Lion. I’m pretty sure FCD’s leftover nachos from last week are less than appetizing. And that half a head of cabbage looks kinda sad. Guess I know what’s in store for me today.

Happy Thursday! There’s no place like home!

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off to work. It’s 24 degrees right now.
Ruble, 102? Take the UPT.

It’s 1 degree F here!

The dogs actually did a better job of going outside than I expected. I’m supposed to be running a 5K on Sunday, but with a high of 15F and my slow pace, I’m not sure if I’m going to do it.

17 this morning.
A veritable heat wave.

Hppy Thorsday!

It’s 10 degrees outside.
No need to go outside today and so I won’t.

Welcome home FCM and Metal Mouse.
Drive safely to OYKW.

I didn’t get enough sleep again last night. The dog wanted up to sleep with me. He can jump up on his own but why bother when I can lift him up?

Take care of yourself Ruble.
