Ever been to your capital?

Not only have I been to it, I’ve lived in my country’s capital, Ottawa, for 12 years!

Also visited all of the provincial capitals except St. John’s in Newfoundland & Labrador, Washington, London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Athens.

Nope, never been to DC.

Have been to my state’s capital, though. Blech.

I used to live 45 minutes outside of Albany, NY and went there at least once a week as it had the closest shopping center, bookstore, and full-service restaurants.

I once visited Washington, DC on a class trip (sang a patriotic medley on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial), but I’d love to return for a couple of days and just go to the Smithsonian.

Haven’t been to the capital of Texas yet, though.

Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt.

I took this fabulous cross-country train trip some years back. Went from Pasadena CA to Chicago to DC to Atlanta (visited a friend in Atlanta for a few days), then to New Orleans, Chicago, Denver, back to Pasadena. Visited my mom along the way too.

I had a layover in DC for about 10 hours. I walked over to the capitol building and looked around. Saw lots of reporters on the lawn. Took pictures. Went to some library and a post office. Hung around the mall. Loved the mall. Also loved the train station.

I was really impressed. I’d love to go back there. And the cherry blossoms were in full bloom—really pretty.

I’ve been to the California capitol (Sacramento) and many other state capitols. I don’t think I’ve been to the capitol of the state where I am currently exiled, though. But I hear that they have a pretty capitol building.

Hong Kong doesn’t really have a capital, and I can’t seem to decide whether that’s cool or not.

I’ve been to my national capital (Canberra) a few times…on the first occasion, I drove around and around for hours looking for the ‘centre’ only to find out that I was IN it.

Apparently there are lots of hidden treasures in Canberra…so well hidden that you can’t find them.

Yes, legend has it there is even a PUB in Canberra! Buggered if I could ever find it though.

Canberra actually isn’t such a bad town in its own way. I could quite happily live there. Just don’t expect loads of character. It’s a plastic, planned city in the middle of nowhere (think Brasilia) without terribly much charm, though it is clean and pretty, and attracts loads of young suburban families.

I do like the central area around Lake Burley Griffin, the old Parliament House, and the War Memorial. The Sydney and Melbourne Buildings are very cool too.

Live in the Lansing MI area. Have been to Washington DC, Madison WI, Sacramento CA, Springfield IL, Boston MA, Atlanta GA, Phoenix AZ.

Born in London and since leaving it have probably been back 5 or 6 hundred times.

Went to University in Cardiff.

When I lived in Hong Kong, it was its own capital; now I guess that’d be Beijing, which I have never visited.

When I lived in the US, I went to Washington DC twice.

Now live in Dublin.

Used to live just outside London, so I’ve been into the city countless times for shopping, sight seeing, shows and visiting my aunt and cousins. I know the centre fairly well, though on quite a superficial level. My reaction to the city is typical: great to have around, but not something I’d want to live in. My sister is now studying there, and probably will remain at least three more years, and I plan to visit more when I move to Bristol later this year.

Never been to a state capital (Tallahassee is kinda far from Orlando ;)), but I’ve visited the following national capitals:

Quito
Hamilton (Bermuda)
Paris
Bern
Vaduz (Lichenstein! Lame, but valid :P)
Bangkok
Singapore
Tunis
Nairobi
Edinburgh

Of these, Quito, Hamilton, Paris, Singapore and Edinburgh are the only ones I really looked around.

I live in Madison, the State capital.

I’ve been to capitals of France, Italy, Venezuela, Serbia, Bulgaria & Croatia(If it’s Zagreb) and going to London next month I think. Never been to Washington DC.

Oohh, thankyou Thirty-Nine, I forgot Hamilton

Been to Dublin many times… its got the best shopping in the country

When I lived in the US, I spent a week in Washington DC sightseeing.

Now I’m in Japan, and I live and work in downtown Tokyo.

When I lived in Pennsylvania, I lived near my state’s capital (Harrisburg) and not exactly far from Washington, D.C. I visited both several times.

Now I live in a suburb of my adopted country’s capital and am in the city proper pretty regularly. Fella bilong missus flodnak works there.

Not only have I been in my state capital building, but I also had sex there.

Oops, a little quick on the post.

I worked in Washington, DC for awhile, and visit quite often. Growing up in Northern Virginia, and now living in Richmond, it is a very easy trip.

Let’s see (in no particular order):

Stockholm
Helsinki
Oslo
Copenhagen
Tallinn
Bonn
Berlin
Amsterdam
Brussels
Luxemburg
London
Dublin
Douglas
Lisbon
Nicosia
Washington DC

I live in Northern Virginia. I work at the Washington Navy Yard.

I’m in D.C. five days a week, minimum.
